Jolly LLB 3 works best when its two rival lawyers share the courtroom with Judge Sundar Lal: Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi bring lively comic friction, while Saurabh Shukla gives the film its most dependable presence. The 2025 Hindi comedy-drama then turns that rivalry toward a land-dispute case with real stakes. Its satirical intent and performances have appeal, but the 2-hour-37-minute film’s pacing and uneven execution may test viewers’ patience.
What is Jolly LLB 3 about?
Directed and written by Subhash Kapoor, Jolly LLB 3 is the third film in the series. It begins with two lawyers, both called Jolly, competing against each other before they become involved in the same case. Jagdishwar Mishra is played by Akshay Kumar; Jagdish Tyagi is played by Arshad Warsi.
The case gives the courtroom comedy a more serious center. In the film’s story, farmer Rajaram Solanki refuses to sell his ancestral land to industrialist Haribhai Khaitan, played by Gajraj Rao. After Rajaram loses in a local court and dies, his widow Janaki, played by Seema Biswas, brings the matter to Delhi. The dispute is fictional plot material, not a report of a real case.
Do the two Jollys make a convincing team?
The contrast between the leads is the film’s clearest source of comic energy. Their characters’ rivalry gives the courtroom scenes a ready-made contest: each wants to outmaneuver the other, and their competing styles create room for verbal sparring. Dhaval Roy, reviewing for The Times of India on 19 September 2025, praised Kumar and Warsi’s rapport and comic timing, while noting that the rivalry takes time to gain momentum and never reaches the peak it might have.

The setup promises a sustained clash between the two lawyers, but the comic contest does not always feel as sharp or escalating as the premise suggests. The performances help keep the exchanges engaging even when the story’s structure does not make the rivalry feel fully developed.
Why is Judge Sundar Lal the film’s standout?
Saurabh Shukla returns as Judge Sundar Lal, whose presence provides a strong counterweight to the lawyers’ antics. Shubhra Gupta’s Indian Express review, published 19 September 2025, called him the film’s best part. His scenes give the courtroom comedy a familiar center, and his character remains a major draw as the story shifts toward its more serious case.

The film’s broad comic approach and its criticism of unequal power sit side by side. The land dispute puts a widow’s pursuit of justice against the influence of an industrialist; the courtroom humor makes that conflict accessible, but it can also soften the weight of the underlying injustice. The balance is uneven rather than wholly successful: the satirical impulse is evident, but the case does not always gain the dramatic force its premise invites.
Does the film’s length suit its pacing?
Jolly LLB 3 has a listed runtime of 2 hours 37 minutes. The length gives the film room to move from the lawyers’ rivalry to the land dispute, but the shift does not ensure that every stretch feels purposeful. Gupta criticized the slow pace, verbose proceedings, and basic storytelling, arguing that they undermine the film despite its anti-establishment streak. Roy also found that the rivalry took too long to gather speed.

The difference between the reviews is useful: they do not agree on the film’s overall success, but both point to a gap between its lively performances and the momentum of its storytelling. Viewers who enjoy courtroom banter and the returning judge may be more forgiving of the leisurely build than those looking for a tightly escalating legal drama.
What critics make of Jolly LLB 3
The two reviews offer contrasting verdicts, not a universal critical consensus. Gupta rated the film 2/5 in The Indian Express, praising its anti-establishment streak and Shukla’s performance while faulting its pace and storytelling. Roy rated it 3.5/5 in The Times of India, appreciating the leads’ chemistry and comic timing while finding that the rivalry did not build as strongly as it could.
BookMyShow’s listing showed an audience rating of 8.8/10 from 5.3K votes when observed on 8 October 2026. That is a changeable score on one platform, not a measure of all viewers’ opinions.

Watch it for the clash between Kumar and Warsi, and especially for Shukla’s Judge Sundar Lal. The serious land-dispute premise gives the comedy something more substantial to address, though the film does not always make its satire and courtroom drama reinforce each other. Its long runtime and uneven momentum are the main reservations; whether the performances compensate will depend on how much you enjoy the series’ broad courtroom humor.
