Joker: Folie à Deux debuted at 63% on Rotten Tomatoes during the Venice Film Festival, according to the Associated Press. That was its festival-era score—not the rating it carried later: AP reported 33% by the film’s first weekend in theaters, while Rotten Tomatoes’ page showed 31% for critics and 31% for verified audiences when checked on October 8, 2026.

How the score changed over time
| Release point | Reported Rotten Tomatoes score | Source and context |
|---|---|---|
| Venice Film Festival premiere | 63% | Associated Press, 2024; reported festival-era score |
| First theatrical weekend | 33% | Associated Press, October 6, 2024 |
| Live listing checked October 8, 2026 | 31% Tomatometer from 374 critic reviews; 31% Popcornmeter from 5,000+ verified audience ratings | Rotten Tomatoes film page; a later snapshot that may change |
These figures describe different points in the film’s release timeline, so the Venice debut and the later live-page rating are not contradictory. Joker: Folie à Deux opened widely in theaters on October 4, 2024, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
What the two current Rotten Tomatoes ratings mean
The Tomatometer reflects critics’ reviews, while the Popcornmeter reflects verified audience ratings. The Rotten Tomatoes page listed both at 31% on October 8, 2026, but their review and rating counts differ. Because the page is live, those figures should be read as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent score.
