Stamos posted a message of support the next day, then visited Coulier and joined him in a bald-cap joke while Coulier shaved his head. Coulier later said the gesture made him laugh and defended it as part of their friendship.
What John Stamos did after Dave Coulier’s diagnosis
Before sharing the news publicly, Coulier told members of the Full House cast in a group text because he did not want them to hear it elsewhere, E! reported. In his November 13, 2024 Today appearance, he said he had received the stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis about five weeks earlier and spoke about his surgeries, chemotherapy and hair loss. Those details describe Coulier’s experience, not general medical guidance.
On November 14, Stamos posted a message on Instagram calling Coulier “My brother from day 1” and writing, “Love you @dcoulier and I’ll be by your side through it all,” according to E!’s report.
Why Stamos wore a bald cap
Several days after his initial message, Stamos shared photos of himself wearing a bald cap while helping Coulier shave his head. Some people criticized the gesture online. The coverage describes selected comments, not a representative measure of public opinion.

Coulier responded by defending his friend. In a post reported by TheWrap, he explained that humor was how he handled a difficult time and said Stamos’s arrival in a bald cap made him “laugh out loud.” He described the moment as an expression of their friendship, rather than an attempt to make light of his diagnosis.

The November 2024 announcement concerned Coulier’s lymphoma diagnosis. A later report from El País, published February 4, 2026, says Coulier stated on Good Morning America that both cancers were in remission. The report recounts a separate tongue cancer diagnosis after an earlier lymphoma remission. Coulier’s statements about the curability of either cancer were personal comments about his own case, not general prognosis or medical advice.
