The trailer is for John Candy: I Like Me, a documentary directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds. Its most affecting moment comes when Bill Murray recalls Candy as his friend and becomes emotional while looking at his face. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 and is now streaming on Amazon Prime, subject to local availability.
What happens in the trailer?
Murray says, “I can’t tell you what was right about John Candy, or what was wrong. But he was my friend.” He then continues, “And … I don’t wanna cry, but when you see him, when you see his face…” Global News describes Murray beginning to tear up. The moment gives the trailer its emotional center: it is a friend remembering someone he misses, rather than a conventional career tribute.
