Collider reported that the pair later walked away at the $500,000 tier rather than answer a final question about Wordle.
What happened when McHale and Rash played
Collider’s August 7, 2025 report describes Community co-stars Joel McHale and Jim Rash playing together for charity, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting. The report says Kimmel explained the 50/50 lifeline during their game. ABC describes the Kimmel-hosted series as a show in which celebrity pairs play together for charity; its official series page provides show listings and clips.
According to Collider, the pair reached the $500,000 tier and chose to walk away rather than answer a final question about Wordle. The outlet reports that they left $125,000 for each of their charities. Those are details of this reported episode, not general figures for the show.
How the 50/50 lifeline works
As Collider describes Kimmel’s explanation, the lifeline removes two wrong answers from the four choices, leaving two options. It does not remove the correct answer. That distinguishes it from advice from a person or an audience, which could be mistaken.
