Joe Rogan’s live comedy special Burn the Boats premiered on Netflix on August 3, 2024, so it is no longer a new or upcoming release. Will you watch? If you’re interested in live stand-up with the platform’s “No Filter,” “Raunchy,” and “Social Commentary” labels, it may be worth checking whether it’s available in your Netflix catalog. Those labels are Netflix’s descriptors, not a review of the jokes.
What is Burn the Boats?
Joe Rogan: Burn the Boats is a live stand-up special filmed at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas. Netflix lists it as a 2024 title starring Rogan, with a runtime of 1 hour and 6 minutes and a TV-MA rating. Netflix’s title page categorizes it as stand-up comedy and uses the descriptors “No Filter,” “Raunchy,” and “Social Commentary.”
When did it premiere?
Netflix announced on July 9, 2024, that the special would premiere live on August 3 at 7 p.m. Pacific / 10 p.m. Eastern. The announcement called it Rogan’s return to Netflix stand-up after six years; that was the context at the time, not a current release announcement. Netflix Tudum’s announcement described it as his sixth hour-long special then. Rogan’s current official biography calls Burn the Boats his seventh hour-long comedy special. His biography does not explain the difference in those counts.
What can you expect when watching?
The official pages establish the format, venue, runtime, rating, and Netflix’s category labels, but they do not provide a detailed account of the material. They also do not establish a viewership figure or critical or audience consensus. Whether the special appeals to you therefore depends on your interest in Rogan’s stand-up and whether Netflix’s descriptors match what you want to watch.
