In an interview published February 13, he said his focus had already shifted to representing NXT well and helping the brand move forward. WWE records his reign as ending April 4, 2026; as of October 8, he was no longer champion.
What Hendry said after winning the NXT Championship
Hendry described the championship as a goal he had pursued for a long time, and said reaching it brought a range of emotions, including validation. But he did not expect to dwell on the achievement for long. “That’s the thing I love about wrestling is that it moves forward,” he said in the interview.
His next aim, as he put it, was to serve the brand: “Now the goal is, how do I represent NXT in the best way possible? What can I do to potentially elevate the brand at NXT? What can I do as part of this team to help keep us moving forward and take us to the next level?” The comments make the headline’s “is NXT” a statement about identity and commitment to the brand, not a claim about his current title status.
When Joe Hendry won the title—and how long he held it
WWE’s official NXT Championship history records Hendry’s reign from February 3 through April 4, 2026, a total of 59 days. The interview says he won the title in a ladder match on the February 3 episode of NXT.

Hendry’s status as of October 8, 2026
Hendry is a former NXT Champion, not the reigning champion. WWE’s title history lists Grayson Waller as champion beginning August 30, 2026, and WWE’s September 29 NXT results report that Waller retained the championship. Title status can change; the official title history is the clearest record of the reigns.

WWE’s Joe Hendry profile lists him as a roster member, gives Edinburgh, Scotland, as his hometown, and names “Standing Ovation” as his signature move. In the February interview, Hendry’s emphasis was less on a single milestone than on what he could contribute next as part of NXT.
