Jimmy Kimmel Live! announced a temporary food-donation center on its Hollywood backlot in November 2025, during uncertainty over SNAP benefits amid the federal government shutdown. The drive was intended to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and St. Joseph Center. The available reporting confirms the launch and launch-period donation requests, but does not establish whether the center is still operating or what it accepts today.
What Jimmy Kimmel’s food bank initiative was
On November 5, 2025, Jimmy Kimmel Live! announced the “Jimmy Kimmel Live Big, Beautiful Food Bank,” a donation center on the show’s Hollywood backlot. The drive came as families faced uncertainty about SNAP benefits during the federal government shutdown. The Guardian reported that the intended beneficiaries were the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and St. Joseph Center. The Guardian’s November 5 report reproduced the announcement’s statement: “Cutting SNAP benefits creates uncertainty for American children, seniors and families.”
St. Joseph Center subsequently thanked Kimmel, Molly McNearney and the show’s team for opening the drive to support the center and other local charities. Its November 14 post said the effort helped provide stability and essential supplies to individuals and families, including people experiencing homelessness. St. Joseph Center’s post confirms its participation, but does not say whether the donation center remains open.
What donations were requested at launch
Contemporary reports described requests for shelf-stable food and personal-care essentials. The lists varied between reports, so they should be understood as items requested around the November 2025 launch—not as a current acceptance list.

How to help if you are outside Los Angeles
The show’s reported announcement encouraged people outside Los Angeles to support their local food banks. Feeding America President and COO Linda Nageotte also described money, food and volunteer time as ways to help during the shutdown period. In The Guardian’s November 6 article, she explained that food banks can source food through relationships with retailers, farmers and other food-sector partners. That means a direct contribution to a local organization can support its own sourcing and distribution arrangements rather than requiring you to reproduce one particular donation list.

- 【Compact 6.2 x 4.6 x 4.0-Inch Countertop Size】 Measuring 6.2 x 4.6 x 4.0 inches, it fits bake sales, office front desks, concession stands, reception counters, and service stations without crowding your display space, yet holds plenty for steady collections
- Give money: Use the food bank’s official donation channel and check whether it describes any restrictions on gifts.
- Give food or essentials: Follow that organization’s current list and drop-off instructions, including any packaging or condition requirements.
- Volunteer: Ask about available shifts and tasks such as sorting or packing. Nageotte specifically cited help with those jobs.
The Guardian’s November 6 article quoted Nageotte saying food banks need “donations of money,” “donations of food,” volunteers to sort and pack boxes, and people willing to advocate. The same article described nearly 42 million people as facing a threat to their food supply in the 2025 shutdown context; that is a historical figure, not a current estimate.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Hollywood donation center still open?
The cited November 2025 coverage and St. Joseph Center’s November 14 acknowledgment establish that the drive was launched and that St. Joseph Center was involved. They do not verify the center’s present operating status, address, hours or accepted items. Anyone hoping to donate specifically through the backlot should look for a current notice from the show or a beneficiary organization before traveling or dropping off supplies. For a donation now, use the recipient food bank’s current guidance.
