Hewitt also directed the film, while her real-life husband, Brian Hallisay, plays Mason, a house manager who becomes part of Andie’s story. The trailer’s “exclusive” label referred to its coverage, not a special distribution status for the film.
What is The Holiday Junkie about?
Andie and her mother, Mimi, run a holiday decorating and planning service. After Mimi dies, Andie must carry on the business by herself while confronting her first Christmas without her mother. The story brings romance into that period of grief: Mason, played by Brian Hallisay, is a house manager who enters Andie’s life.
That setup makes the film both a Christmas romance and a story about loss. It does not treat the holidays as uncomplicated cheer; Andie’s memories of Mimi remain part of the season she is trying to navigate.

How the film connects Christmas romance with grief
Hewitt dedicated the movie to her mother, Patricia, who died in 2012. In the Lifetime interview, she described details inspired by memories of her mother, including a snow scene, a glitter Santa, penguins, and a moment when Mason puts Christmas lights up for Andie—a gesture her mother had made for her.
Hewitt said she wanted the movie to leave room for pain as well as warmth and humor: “There are lots of movies that celebrate the other side of it, but I’m really proud we were able to make a Christmas movie that will make you laugh and feel good, but it’s also in celebration of people who have pain.” She also said people connected with the story because “They loved that it was complicated and that it was about grief at Christmas.”
When did The Holiday Junkie premiere?
The film premiered on Lifetime in the United States on December 14, 2024, according to Fox Entertainment Global’s Q1 2025 catalogue. That catalogue gives the runtime as 90 minutes. Amazon Prime Video’s listing displays 1 hour 27 minutes; those are two different published runtimes, so neither should be treated as a confirmed correction of the other.

What “exclusive trailer” means here
The November 19, 2024 Yahoo Entertainment report described its trailer coverage as exclusive, while a production-side post labeled a linked video “Official Trailer: The Holiday Junkie.” “Exclusive” in the headline describes that trailer coverage; it is not a film-release label or a claim about who distributes the movie.
