There is no single, authoritative wardrobe inventory in the contemporary coverage, and fashion galleries group or label some garments differently. The designers and silhouettes below are those identified in published coverage; they should not be read as a definitive, numbered sequence.
The standout outfits and designers
- Red carpet: A gown by Defaïence was identified in fashion-gallery coverage.
- Opening reveal: Lopez began in a black Dolce & Gabbana coatdress, which she removed to reveal a custom Michael Ngo rhinestone catsuit.
- Gowns and sparkle: Coverage identifies a Miss Sohee gown, described by ELLE with a teal embroidered jacket, and an embellished Bronx & Banco gown.

These descriptions capture the range—coatdress, catsuit, gowns and jumpsuit, with rhinestones, sequins and embroidery—but do not establish a reliable order for every change. ELLE and Harper’s Bazaar differ in how they describe or group some looks, so a numbered look-by-look sequence would overstate what the text accounts establish.

How the opening tied fashion to the show
The Los Angeles Times reported that Lopez opened with a six-minute dance routine featuring parts of 23 hit songs. The coatdress-to-catsuit reveal made the first wardrobe transition part of the performance rather than simply a change between hosting segments. The event took place at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

In remarks before the ceremony, Lopez said fittings had begun only the day before and that there were many options to choose from. She expected last-minute decisions, explaining that she and her stylist considered what they wanted for both the performance and the hosting, and asked, “what’s our vibe?”
She also described her fashion choices as reflecting different sides of herself: “For me, my feelings change from month to month, like, ‘Who do I want to be today?’ because I feel like there’s so many different sides to who I am fashion-wise.”

The 51st American Music Awards took place on May 26, 2025. The AMAs announced Lopez as host on April 23 and said the ceremony would air live from Las Vegas at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS, with streaming on Paramount+ in the United States.
