As quoted by Vanity Fair, she said: “Honestly, I have to say, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, because it changed me—it didn’t change me, it helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow, become more self-aware. I’m a different person now than I was last year.”

That qualification is central to the remark: Lopez corrected herself from saying the experience changed her to saying it helped her grow. She presented the divorce as part of her own development, not as an accusation against Affleck or an explanation of the marriage’s private circumstances.

Lopez also described the contrast between work and home while filming amid personal turmoil. “It was a tough time,” she said. She added: “Every moment on set, and every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy. And then back home, it was not great.” These comments place her reflection in the context of that period without supplying a private account of why the marriage ended.
