The scene drawing attention in No Hard Feelings is a comic nude beach fight, not a sex scene. Jennifer Lawrence plays Maddie, who goes after teenagers after they take her and Percy’s clothes while the pair are skinny-dipping. Lawrence said she found the scene hilarious; co-star Andrew Barth Feldman described filming it as professional.
What happens in the beach scene?
No Hard Feelings is a 2023 R-rated comedy starring Lawrence as Maddie and Feldman as Percy, a 19-year-old whose parents hire Maddie to date him and help him gain confidence before college. Sony’s official film page and Netflix Tudum’s film guide describe the premise.

The nude sequence follows Maddie and Percy going skinny-dipping. When teenagers take their clothes, Maddie chases them and fights them while naked. The nudity is part of the scene’s physical comedy and action; it should not be confused with a sex scene. The Guardian discusses the sequence in its coverage of screen nudity: its report on Lawrence and Scarlett Johansson’s on-screen nudity.
What Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman said about filming it
In a 2023 interview with Men’s Health, Lawrence said people around her repeatedly asked whether she was sure she wanted to do the scene. Her response was: “I didn’t even have a second thought. It was hilarious to me.” The report says the sequence involved extensive rehearsal and that filming lasted a whole day.

- Maddie thinks she?s found the answer to her financial troubles when she discovers an intriguing job listing: wealthy helicopter parents looking for someone to "date" their introverted 19-year-old son, Percy, and bring him out of his shell before he leaves for college. But awkward Percy proves to be a real challenge, and time is running out. She has one summer to make him a man or lose it all.
Feldman called the experience “entirely professional.” He said the cast became close quickly and that nothing felt weird or unsafe. His comments, like Lawrence’s, are reported in the same Men’s Health interview.
