That label comes from fashion coverage, not a confirmed name or technical description from Aniston or her hairstylist.
What is Jennifer Aniston’s new haircut called?
British Vogue called Aniston’s September 2025 look the “soft Rachel,” noting the bumped-in ends associated with her sitcom-era style. Another August 2025 appearance was described by Woman & Home as longer, softly layered and textured. The publication said its video did not show the cut in full, so neither account establishes a precise salon specification.
“Curve cut” and “everything cut” also appear in the Woman & Home article as names sometimes used for similar layering. They are not confirmed names for Aniston’s hairstyle. The clearest description is Rachel-inspired, with softer layers and texture.
How does the soft Rachel compare with the original?

The original became distinctive partly because it was so visibly styled. Celebrity hairstylist Luke Hersheson told British Vogue that it arrived in the mid-1990s, after a period of grunge-influenced “no-hair hair” and “no make-up make-up.” Rachel Green’s full, obviously layered haircut offered a clear contrast.

What should you ask your stylist for?
Use “a softer, Rachel-inspired layered cut” as a starting point, not as a technical prescription. Bring reference photos that show the length, layers and finish you want, then ask your stylist how to adapt those details to your hair and face. The 2025 coverage does not establish one exact cut name or a complete cutting method.
- Show the stylist which parts of the look matter most to you: face-framing layers, a shoulder-skimming length, movement, or bumped-in ends.
- Discuss how much layering suits your own texture and how you usually style your hair.
- Agree on the finished length and everyday styling effort before deciding how closely to follow a photo.
Is it the same as Aniston’s 2013 bob?
No. In a 2013 ELLE interview, longtime stylist Chris McMillan described a separate, shorter A-line bob without hard edges, which he called “The un-precious bob.” The article said it sat about two inches above her shoulders. That past haircut is distinct from the 2025 soft Rachel; McMillan’s description of the bob is not a specification for Aniston’s newer look.

Can Velcro rollers help with the styling?
They can be an optional tool for crown lift and volume. In a 2023 Vogue hair-routine feature, McMillan said he used Velcro rollers at the crown and advised choosing a size smaller than expected. That is general routine context, not evidence that he used rollers for Aniston’s 2025 appearance or that rollers are needed to achieve the haircut.
