She was crying in her dressing room when she was told she had 45 minutes to get to a flight. The casting was announced the next morning on Good Morning America—not before she left the finale set for the airport.
What happened after the live finale?
Tran described the sequence in a September 4, 2024 interview with Us Weekly: “I got off stage, was crying in my dressing room and then they’re like, ‘Alright, 45 minutes, you gotta get on a flight. We’re doing it,’”

In a separate interview published that day by Glamour, Tran said she had previously met about the possibility of doing the show, but had been told there was no decision yet. She thought the opportunity had passed. The final news and travel instructions came after she left the stage: she said she could not pack and was told to bring her ID.
How did Sasha Farber get involved?
Tran’s new professional partner, Sasha Farber, also described an urgent call. He told Us Weekly he was told early that morning to get to the airport within 45 minutes. He said he did not have a ticket and had not yet met Tran; at the airport, he saw her running to security and followed toward the same destination.

The accounts describe a compressed trip after a last-minute final decision, rather than Tran going straight from the finale stage onto a plane. The 45-minute window is Tran and Farber’s recollection in interviews, not a published production schedule or independent flight record.
