The Bill Maher comparison comes from a separate story: in a 2024 report about a Film Comment podcast interview, Bridges joked that his digitally de-aged appearance in TRON: Legacy looked more like Maher than himself.
What Jeff Bridges said about his de-aged appearance
Bridges’s joke was about the younger digital version of himself created for TRON: Legacy, not about his appearance in the later film. Yahoo News reported his remark as: “I felt like I looked more like Bill Maher than myself.” The wording is attributable to Yahoo’s account of the podcast conversation; the accessible Film Comment page describes the interview but does not reproduce that specific line.

The comment is a lighthearted reaction to seeing a visual-effects version of his younger self. It is not, by itself, an assessment of de-aging technology generally.
Bridges’s role in TRON: Ares
Disney lists Bridges among the cast of TRON: Ares, and Disney Japan identifies his character as Kevin Flynn. The film follows TRON (1982) and TRON: Legacy (2010), placing Flynn’s return within the series rather than making the Bill Maher remark a comment on the new film.

How the interview and film fit on the timeline
The anecdote was reported in 2024, in connection with Bridges’s Film Comment podcast conversation. Disney later announced that TRON: Ares would begin streaming exclusively on Disney+ on January 7, 2026. That is the announced streaming start date; it does not establish that the title is currently available in every regional Disney+ catalog.
