Who is Jason Momoa playing in Supergirl?
Momoa plays Lobo, a character DC describes as an intergalactic bounty hunter and self-styled “Main Man.” DC’s official Lobo profile says he was born on Czarnia, first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983, and is known for super strength, invulnerability, super speed, healing, alien technology, and combat skill. The profile also characterizes him as self-interested but someone who keeps his word—often on his own terms.
DC lists Momoa in the cast of Supergirl and identifies Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Craig Gillespie as director, and Ana Nogueira as writer. Why did Momoa say Lobo was “always my favorite”?
The phrase came from a 2023 Fandango interview, as recounted in the December 2024 Yahoo Entertainment report. Momoa said he collected comics and that Lobo “was always my favorite,” adding that he had wanted to play the role. When he later shared the interview clip to announce the casting, he captioned it “They called.” The quote therefore describes Momoa’s own longtime enthusiasm for the character.

How does Lobo fit into the Supergirl adaptation?
The film is based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s eight-issue 2021 comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Lobo does not appear in that source comic; DC’s September 2026 post-release discussion says he was an addition to the film adaptation, not a character carried over from the book.
