What did Jão say the album was about?
Universal Music Brasil identified PIRATA as Jão’s third studio album and described freedom as its central theme. The label said Jão signed all of the album’s compositions and productions, with Pedro Tófani, Zebu, and Paul Ralphes also involved in the project. In English: “It’s about freedom, but it’s very much about who I want to be and who I aspire to be. It’s a place I want to reach—and the symbolism of ‘Pirata’ means that.”
