Janice Combs responded on December 6, 2025, to Netflix’s four-part documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, disputing its portrayal of her as an abusive parent. She said she was a single mother who worked multiple jobs to provide for her son. Those are her account and denial; they do not independently resolve the documentary’s claims.
What Janice Combs said
In a statement reported by Rolling Stone, Janice Combs said: “In the documentary, I am portrayed as an abusive parent. This is untrue.” She also described herself as a single mother who held three and four jobs to provide for her son. Those details reflect her own statement, not an independent finding about the family’s history.

Us Weekly also reported that she made the statement to Deadline on December 6, 2025. Her response challenges the documentary’s portrayal of her; it does not address every allegation made by its interviewees.
Which documentary prompted the response?
Sean Combs: The Reckoning is a four-part Netflix documentary released December 2, 2025. Netflix’s Media Center identifies Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as executive producer and Alexandria Stapleton as director. Netflix says the series examines Combs and his career and includes interviews and footage from the period leading up to his indictment and arrest.

Janice Combs’s statement came four days after the release. The documentary’s interviewees’ allegations, her denial, and the findings in Combs’s criminal case are separate kinds of information; none should be treated as a substitute for the others.
What the federal case decided
The jury’s verdict was mixed. As E! News reported, jurors acquitted Sean Combs of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, but convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced him on October 3, 2025, to 50 months in prison, five years of supervised release, and a $500,000 fine.

Those verdicts concern the specific federal counts tried in court. They are not a ruling on every claim discussed in the documentary, nor do they determine whether Janice Combs’s account of her parenting is true.
