Jamie Oliver visited Jamie’s Italian on William Street in Perth on 21 March 2014, praising its staff as the team behind what he called the “busiest restaurant of them all.” The phrase was Oliver’s description, not a current or independently audited ranking.

Oliver visited Jamie’s Italian at one40william on William Street on 21 March 2014. PerthNow reported that he spent about two hours at the city restaurant, stayed for lunch, met staff and fans, and promised to return. About 150 fans gathered for the visit, according to PerthNow’s report.
What did Oliver mean by “busiest restaurant of them all”?
Oliver’s praise was directed at the Perth team. PerthNow transcribed his post to his then 3.8 million Twitter followers as: “So proud of my Perth Jamie’s Italian team,’’ he told his 3.8 million followers on Twitter. “They rock solid and they run the busiest restaurant restaurant of them all.” The transcription contains a repeated “restaurant” and omits “are”; those irregularities belong to the contemporaneous report.
At Perth Airport, Oliver also told PerthNow: “I’m chuffed to bits that we’ve managed to do a great job halfway around the world in the most remote city on the planet.” The last phrase was Oliver’s colorful description, not a geographic ranking. In a later Instagram message transcribed by PerthNow, he thanked Perth and his local team and wrote, “see you again soon xx.”

Was Perth actually Jamie’s Italian’s most successful location?
A separate PerthNow report described the Perth venue as the most successful in Oliver’s international Italian-restaurant group. The West Australian likewise reported on 23 March 2014 that the Perth restaurant “does better business than all the others” among overseas markets. These were contemporary descriptions, not the result of a published, consistent comparison: the reports provide no aligned sales figures, customer counts, dates or method for ranking all locations.
Oliver gave a broader explanation for the chain’s positioning in the same period. As quoted by The West Australian food editor Rob Broadfield, he said: “When we started Jamie’s Italian five years ago there was very little good, well-priced food at the middle tier of the restaurant business.”

How large was the Perth venue?
The restaurant opened in March 2013. Opening coverage from The West Australian said it could seat 214 customers and used 75–80 kg of fresh pasta a day. PerthNow’s 2014 visit report called it a 240-seat outlet. Those two reported capacities differ; they should be read as figures from separate contemporary reports, not combined into a single verified capacity. Neither is a current operating statistic.

Ownership changed after Oliver’s visit. The West Australian reported in May 2017 that Oliver had bought back the Australian restaurants after their operator, Keystone Group, experienced financial difficulty. In May 2019, PerthNow reported that four Australian venues, including Perth, were owned and operated by Brisbane-based Hallmark Group; that report said the Australian restaurants were unaffected by the UK chain’s administration.

Those reports establish historical ownership context, not the Perth restaurant’s status today. The available reporting does not establish whether the William Street venue currently operates, and Oliver should not be described as its current owner or operator.
