Curtis had planned to officiate dressed as the game character Jaina Proudmoore.
What happened at Ruby Guest and Kynthia’s wedding?
The ceremony took place at Curtis’s home on May 29, 2022. Vanity Fair described it as an intimate backyard wedding, with a cosplay theme inspired by World of Warcraft. Curtis’s post, as reproduced by the magazine, identified the couple as “RUBY and KYNTHIA.” Vanity Fair’s May 31, 2022 report is the accessible account of the event.
Why was the ceremony a cosplay wedding?
The couple’s World of Warcraft theme shaped the ceremony’s dress code: guests were encouraged to come in costume. Curtis had said on Jimmy Kimmel Live, as quoted by Vanity Fair, “Everybody at the wedding is going to be in costume and I will be in a costume to officiate the wedding.”
Curtis’s planned character
Curtis planned to portray Jaina Proudmoore, a character from World of Warcraft. Vanity Fair reported that she obtained the costume through Etsy; the account does not say she bought it from Amazon.

Curtis had officiated weddings before
In the same Vanity Fair report, Curtis said she had “married three couples” and was “available.” She also reflected on the family significance of hosting the weddings at home: “Both my children will have been married in my backyard, which brings me to tears.” Both comments were attributed to her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
How Curtis spoke about supporting Ruby
Vanity Fair also recalled Curtis’s earlier interview with People about learning how to support Ruby after Ruby came out as transgender. Curtis described that learning process with humility: “It’s speaking a new language. It’s learning new terminology and words. I am new at it. I am not someone who is pretending to know much about it. And I’m going to blow it, I’m going to make mistakes. I would like to try to avoid making big mistakes.” She added, “This is our family’s experience. I am here to support Ruby.”

What does “A Family Uniting and Blending” mean?
A Yahoo Entertainment headline later used the phrase “A Family Uniting and Blending” in connection with Curtis’s reflection on the wedding. The accessible headline and excerpt do not establish that Curtis said those words, or provide enough context to treat them as a direct quotation. Yahoo Entertainment’s indexed result supports the headline framing, but not a more specific account of her reflection.
