James Gunn shared a teaser on January 23, 2026, offering the first proper look at Jason Momoa as Lobo in Supergirl. The clip moves from Momoa outside his trailer to Lobo laughing on a motorcycle; Gunn captioned the extended version, “It’s called making an entrance.”
What does Jason Momoa look like as Lobo?
The teaser begins with Momoa stepping out of his trailer and being asked about playing Lobo, then cuts to the character astride a motorcycle, laughing. The Los Angeles Times described it as the first “proper” look at Momoa as the character—not Lobo’s first appearance in any footage, since an earlier teaser had already included a glimpse.
Gunn, DC Studios co-chief and producer, shared the extended version with the caption: “It’s called making an entrance.” The Los Angeles Times reported the reveal on January 23, 2026.
Who is Lobo in Supergirl?
In DC’s story description, Kara reluctantly joins an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey after a ruthless adversary strikes close to home. A later DC feature identifies Lobo as a Czarnian bounty hunter and a trigger-happy wild card in Kara’s search for a cure for the poisoned Krypto. It also draws a parallel between the two characters: each is the sole survivor of a planet, though Lobo caused his people’s destruction.

What Momoa has said about playing Lobo
In a DC.com feature published June 24, 2026, Momoa described how the costume affected his performance: “Putting that stuff on, it’s fun because you get to change, and you get to be something different in how you move.” He also said of a possible future project, “Hopefully I get to do a solo movie.” That was Momoa expressing a hope, not an announcement that a solo Lobo film is in development.
