James Bond 26’s casting search is already underway—not something scheduled to begin next year. Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that status on May 14, 2026, but did not name an actor or give a date for a casting announcement.

The statement confirms an active search; it does not identify the actor, disclose candidates, or set a date for an announcement. The film’s title has not been established in that update, so “Bond 26” is shorthand rather than a confirmed title.
What has been reported about the search
Variety reported on May 15, 2026, that casting director Nina Gold was leading the search and that auditions had been taking place for several weeks. Those details come from trade reporting, not from Amazon MGM’s statement. Read Variety’s report.

An audition, reported casting role, or rumored candidate is not the same as an announced casting decision. No actor should be described as the next Bond without an official confirmation.
Who is making the next Bond film?
Amazon MGM’s May 2026 update identifies Denis Villeneuve as director, Amy Pascal and David Heyman as producers, and Steven Knight as screenwriter. The studio had previously announced Pascal and Heyman as producers. Its franchise announcement describes the creative-control arrangement involving Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. What is known about the actor announcement?
The May 14 studio update does not announce an actor or say when one will be announced. An October 1, 2026 secondary report said no actor had been officially confirmed as of its publication, but that does not establish the status on October 8. With no later official confirmation established here, the precise current casting status should be checked against Amazon MGM’s channels.
