It was not a new retail release: the custom medallion was made in 2005 and depicts Pharrell Williams with his N.E.R.D. groupmates.
What is the N.E.R.D. Character Pendant Chain?
It is a custom medallion and chain associated with Pharrell Williams and his group N.E.R.D. Complex describes the medallion as portraying Pharrell alongside his groupmates. The piece dates to 2005, long before its publicized auction result.
According to Complex’s report, the piece is made of three-tone 14-karat gold and adorned with natural fancy yellow, light pink, and color-enhanced blue diamonds. The report does not provide verified stone counts, carat weights, dimensions, or a condition report.
How much did it sell for, and when?
The chain sold for $2.184 million at JOOPITER’s inaugural Son of a Pharaoh auction, which closed on November 1, 2022. Complex and Hypebeast both reported the result. That figure is an auction sale price, not a stated retail price or a current valuation.

Hypebeast reported that the full auction generated $5.25 million in sales across 47 lots, with approximately 94% of lots sold. The $5.25 million total refers to the entire sale, not the pendant chain alone.
How did it compare with other N.E.R.D. chains?
Two other N.E.R.D.-related chains sold in the same JOOPITER auction. These are distinct lots, and the reported results do not establish current values or retail prices.

Complex and Hypebeast reported the Character Pendant Chain sold for nine times its high estimate; Hypebeast described the result as more than nine times the high estimate. The reports do not state the estimate amount. Neither provides enough verified information to compare the pieces by weight, stone count, dimensions, or condition.

JOOPITER’s Son of a Pharaoh sale was its inaugural auction. The $2.184 million result made the Character Pendant Chain the highest-priced of the three cited N.E.R.D. chain results.

Complex attributed this description of the piece to “Jupiter”: “one of the most historic pieces of contemporary jewelry that represents an incomparable artist, at an incomparable time, with incomparable creativity.” The report’s attribution is to “Jupiter”; without an original listing confirming the wording or source, it should not be silently changed to JOOPITER.
The reviewed reporting does not establish who owns the chain now or whether it is available for resale. It documents a 2022 auction result, not a current listing.
