Caroline Kennedy and Edwin A. Schlossberg are Jack’s parents, according to the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum. The museum records that Jack was born in New York City on January 19, 1993. It also lists his Yale history degree and joint JD/MBA from Harvard.
How did Caroline’s political life shape Jack’s early interest?
In a July 2024 Vogue interview, Jack recalled the 2008 Barack Obama campaign as an early moment when he felt included in politics. He said his uncle, Senator Edward Kennedy, asked what he thought of Obama, and that Caroline and Edward Kennedy endorsed Obama after the South Carolina primary. Jack described feeling involved, heard, and excited by the possibility of making a difference.
Jack has also described the family’s public-service legacy as a personal influence. In the same interview, he said, “I am inspired by my family’s legacy of public service,” adding, “I take that very seriously, and I want to contribute in my own way.” He connected his professional work to the Kennedy Library and said he became more involved in the family’s public obligations as he grew older.

What has Caroline said about her son?
In a March 2026 CBS News interview, Caroline described Jack and his ability to reach a new generation, saying, “Well, I really trust Jack. I trust his judgment.” CBS also reported that Caroline and Edwin were Jack’s most trusted advisers.

These public accounts support describing the relationship as one in which Caroline has expressed confidence in Jack and he has spoken about his mother’s political example. CBS reported that his parents tried to keep him out of the spotlight while he was growing up. Those facts do not establish every aspect of their private relationship: the cited public record does not show whether they are unusually close, estranged, or in conflict.
