Jinger’s specific remarks about her brother Josh come from earlier interviews, most clearly from January 2023.
What the September 2026 podcast conversation contained
Jinger and Joy-Anna Duggar discussed family difficulties on the Jinger & Jeremy podcast in a conversation dated September 2, 2026. Us Weekly reported on it on September 4, 2026. The most quoted line came from Joy-Anna:
“We’ve had wave after wave of just sickening, horrible things happening.”
The report says the sisters did not specify what the family events were. That means the headline phrase “family tension” describes the sisters’ own summary, and the coverage does not establish that Josh was named or that the podcast was a discussion of his case. Readers should not treat the conversation as a new statement about Josh.

What Jinger has said about Josh
Jinger’s clearest comments about her brother were given to Entertainment Tonight in January 2023. In that interview she said she had not spoken with Josh in two years at the time, and she described concern for the victims and their families. She said she hoped he would repent and change, and she offered support to Josh’s wife, Anna, and their children.
She also drew a distinction that became the most quoted line from that interview:

Her memoir’s account of Josh
An excerpt from Jinger’s memoir Becoming Free Indeed: My Story of Disentangling Faith from Fear, co-written with Corey Williams, was also reproduced by Entertainment Tonight in January 2023, with permission. Entertainment Tonight describes the book as a faith memoir rather than a family tell-all. In the excerpt, Jinger wrote about Josh, hypocrisy and faith, and she included the line:
“He was living a lie.”
These are her personal and theological reflections, and they should be read as her own account rather than as an independent finding about Josh’s conduct.

Legal context and its limits
The Us Weekly report places the family conversation alongside current legal matters involving Josh, who is incarcerated, and Joseph Duggar. Those details are time-sensitive, and the report does not connect them to specific events the sisters described. Allegations remain allegations unless a court has ruled on them. For the current custody status of either man or the status of any case, check the relevant court’s public docket rather than relying on secondary reporting, including this article.
The reporting also does not establish whether the sisters’ comments were directed at Josh, Joseph, or the wider family, and readers should not infer it.
