Who plays Lily Bloom?
Blake Lively plays Lily Bloom, the central character in It Ends with Us. Lily moves to Boston after college and hopes to build a career by opening a flower shop. Her life changes when she meets Ryle Kincaid, a successful neurosurgeon with whom she begins an intense relationship.
Lily’s story is told across her adult life and her adolescence. The film’s flashbacks connect her present-day choices with her childhood, her relationship with her parents, and her early bond with Atlas Corrigan.
Who plays Ryle Kincaid?
Justin Baldoni plays Ryle Kincaid, Lily’s romantic partner. Ryle is introduced as an ambitious neurosurgeon who is strongly attracted to Lily, but the relationship becomes increasingly complicated as abusive behavior emerges.
Baldoni also directed the movie. That makes his role in the production twofold: he appears on screen as one of the story’s central characters and guided the film behind the camera.

Atlas is not simply a second romantic lead added to a conventional love triangle. His connection to Lily is tied to her past, the memories shown in flashbacks, and the choices she must make in the present.

How Lily, Ryle and Atlas are connected
It Ends with Us follows Lily after she moves to Boston to pursue her flower-shop dream. She meets Ryle, and their relationship develops quickly. Atlas, Lily’s first love, later reappears, bringing her past into direct contact with her present.
The resulting conflict is not presented as a straightforward romantic comedy. Sony classifies the film as a drama and romance, and the story focuses on Lily’s recognition of abusive behavior, the consequences of emotional and physical violence, and the way patterns of abuse can pass between generations.
The movie is adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel
It Ends with Us is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel of the same name. The book centers on Lily, Ryle, and Atlas, so readers will recognize the central relationship structure from the source material, although the film is its own adaptation.
