The character implied by the headline is Xavier Thorpe, played by Percy Hynes White. May 2024 coverage of the Season 2 casting changes reported that Hynes White would not return as a series regular. That confirms a change in his cast status; it does not, by itself, confirm whether Xavier is killed, transferred, or otherwise written out of the story.
Who is the major character in question?
The headline most likely refers to Xavier Thorpe, the Nevermore student played by Percy Hynes White. In coverage of a May 7, 2024 casting announcement, Collider reported that Hynes White would not return as a series regular for Season 2. The report was indexed by IMDb; it is secondary coverage, not a direct Netflix statement.

What was reported about the Season 2 cast?
The same May 2024 coverage said Naomi J. Ogawa, who played Yoko Tanaka, would also leave series-regular status. Jamie McShane, who played Sheriff Donovan Galpin, was expected to return in a guest capacity. Those are reported billing and casting changes, not explanations of what happens to each character onscreen.
Does Xavier die or get written out of the story?
The accessible reporting does not establish Xavier’s precise fate. A cast member’s departure from series-regular status is not proof that a character dies, transfers schools, or is absent for any particular plot reason. IMDb’s news index surfaced an item framing Xavier as written out, but the available account did not provide enough episode-level detail to verify how the show handles his absence. The phrase “writing off” should therefore be read as the headline’s framing, not as a confirmed description of the plot.

Is this about Enid Sinclair?
No. A separate September 2025 report described uncertainty about Enid Sinclair’s status after Season 2, citing Emma Myers’s hope that the character would return. That report does not establish what Season 3 will do with Enid, and it is not evidence about Xavier.
