No return by Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan has been confirmed. In a November 2025 interview, Selleck said he did not know whether he would appear in Boston Blue and questioned whether he should keep playing Frank. A cast member’s later expression of interest is not a casting announcement or an agreement.

Those remarks express uncertainty and reluctance, not an announcement that Selleck will appear. They also came after his earlier comments about wanting Blue Bloods to continue: CBS News reported in May 2024 that he hoped the series would carry on when its ending was announced. That was a different moment and does not establish his plans for the spin-off. CBS News
Does Sonequa Martin-Green’s comment confirm an appearance?
No. In a 2026 TV Insider report, Boston Blue star Sonequa Martin-Green said the show would welcome Selleck if the story were right. That is her view about a possible storyline, not confirmation from Selleck, CBS, Paramount, or an authorized representative that he has agreed to appear. TV Insider’s report

How Frank Reagan fits into the franchise now
Paramount Global Content lists Blue Bloods as running from 2010 to 2024 and identifies Selleck as Frank Reagan. CBS describes Frank as New York’s police commissioner and the head of the Reagan family. Paramount Global Content CBS’s Blue Bloods page
Boston Blue continues the franchise around Danny Reagan in Boston. CBS lists the Season 2 premiere for October 9, 2026; as of October 8, 2026, that date is still upcoming. The schedule confirms the series’ continuation, not Selleck’s involvement. CBS’s Boston Blue page
What would count as confirmation?
A stronger report would quote Selleck or an authorized CBS or Paramount source confirming an agreement, or provide an official casting announcement with a role, episode, or production detail. General enthusiasm from a cast member—or Selleck’s earlier support for continuing Blue Bloods—does not establish that he is booked to return.
The sources available provide no defensible probability that Selleck will reprise Frank. Until a direct confirmation appears, the accurate answer is that a return remains unconfirmed.
