The theory began with circumstantial clues, but Chalamet later appeared alongside EsDeeKid on a remix of “4 Raws.” That collaboration does not reveal the masked rapper’s real-world identity.
Why fans thought Chalamet might be EsDeeKid
EsDeeKid was described by The Guardian on 1 December 2025 as a Merseyside rapper whose identity was secret and who had only been photographed in disguise. Online speculation drew on perceived similarities around the eyes and upper nose, alongside other reported connections:
- Chalamet had been interested in rapping as a teenager.
- He attended a London show featuring Fakemink, an EsDeeKid collaborator.
- Fans online claimed the two wore the same scarf.
These details explain why the theory spread, but none establishes that Chalamet and EsDeeKid are the same person. A visual resemblance or shared clothing is not proof of identity.
A reported location conflict challenged the theory
The Guardian also reported that EsDeeKid played a show in Milan on 9 October 2025 while Chalamet attended a Marty Supreme screening in New York that day. Those reported appearances point to two different places at the same time, which weighs against the idea that one person was performing both roles.

What Chalamet said about the rumor
Asked about the speculation on Heart Breakfast, Chalamet replied, “I got no comment on that,” according to The Independent. The publication also reported his follow-up: “All will be revealed in due time.” The comments did not identify EsDeeKid or confirm the theory.
The “4 Raws” remix made the distinction clearer
On 20 December 2025, The Independent reported that Chalamet had released a rap collaboration with EsDeeKid: a remix of “4 Raws.” The two appearing as collaborators is inconsistent with the original theory that Chalamet was EsDeeKid operating under a second identity. The collaboration, however, did not unmask the rapper or disclose his legal name.

EsDeeKid’s rise, in dated snapshots
The speculation drew attention to an artist already gaining traction, but the reported figures are historical snapshots rather than live totals. The Guardian said on 1 December 2025 that EsDeeKid had recently achieved his first UK Top 10 hit and held three places in the UK Top 40. The Independent reported on 20 December 2025 that he had more than 11 million monthly Spotify listeners at the time. Neither figure should be read as a current chart position or listener count.
