Yes. McQuiston’s book sequel is Red, White & Royal Blue: The Private Correspondence, a romance novella scheduled to go on sale December 1, 2026. Macmillan lists it at 304 pages and identifies St. Martin’s Press as the publisher. Because that date is in the future as of October 8, 2026, the novella is forthcoming, not yet published.
What is the novella about?
After the email leak that exposed their relationship, Alex and Henry avoid using email for personal communication and return to handwritten letters. The story is presented through letters, postcards, journal entries, and other materials, and follows the couple’s long-term future, including conversations about starting a family. McQuiston’s official books page describes the story as spanning over twenty years; the publisher gives the more specific description of twenty years.

What happened to the book-sequel update from 2025?
The earlier comments were accurate for the time, but they came before the novella was officially identified. In an October 15, 2025 interview with Swooon, McQuiston said, “For that reason, I don’t think I’ll ever say never to a book sequel.” The interview described no book sequel at that point, apart from a collector’s-edition bonus chapter.
In April 2026, McQuiston confirmed they were working on a literary project related to Red, White & Royal Blue, without confirming it was a direct sequel. The author and publisher later named that project as The Private Correspondence. The timeline matters: the 2025 comment was not a later reversal of an announced book date; it preceded the official novella announcement.

Is Red, White & Royal Wedding a book or a movie?
Red, White & Royal Wedding is the movie sequel, not the title of the forthcoming novella. In its official announcement, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez will reprise Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz. Jamie Babbit is directing, and Gemma Burgess, Matthew López, and McQuiston are among the writers. McQuiston is also an executive producer.
The studio says the film’s plot is being kept under wraps and does not announce a release date. Do not confuse the novella’s December 1, 2026 publication date with a movie premiere date: that date applies only to the book.
