The planned Transformers–G.I. Joe crossover may have been abandoned. A Screen Radar report published October 2, 2026, citing Collider, says Paramount has dropped the crossover and is moving ahead with a standalone G.I. Joe reboot. That is secondary reporting, not a direct cancellation announcement from Paramount or Hasbro. The project was still described as in development in April 2026, so the October report marks a change in its reported status.
What is the reported status of the crossover?
As of the October 2, 2026 report, the crossover is reportedly no longer moving forward: Screen Radar, citing Collider, said Paramount had abandoned it and was advancing a standalone G.I. Joe reboot. The report also said the crossover never entered production. No direct Paramount or Hasbro statement confirming the cancellation appears in the sources reviewed here, so the most precise description is that the project was reported abandoned—not that the companies officially announced its cancellation.
The next Transformers film’s connection to the events and characters of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is also unresolved. The available reporting does not establish whether Anthony Ramos will return as Noah Diaz, or identify the next film’s continuity, cast, director, or release date.

Why did Rise of the Beasts point toward G.I. Joe?
At the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (released June 9, 2023), Noah Diaz, played by Anthony Ramos, receives a business card identifying the G.I. Joe organization. The scene made the connection part of the movie’s story rather than a standalone announcement about a finished film.

Caple said he wanted an organization to offer Noah help with his problems, after Noah had struggled to find work. He recalled considering different organizations before deciding that G.I. Joe was a strong fit. That setup left a clear opening for the franchises to meet, but did not itself confirm a release date or guarantee that the proposed crossover would be made.
What kind of movie was originally planned?
Di Bonaventura described the concept in February 2024 as G.I. Joe characters entering the Transformers setting—not the two franchises combining immediately into a full-scale shared-universe mash-up. That distinction matters: the initial pitch was framed as a story within the Transformers world, even though the ending of Rise of the Beasts created the connection.

At the time, he said the team hoped to reach a summer 2026 film. In a separate February 2024 interview, he was candid about the uncertainty: “The honest truth is I don’t know,” he said about timing, adding, “I know we are going to deliver on the promise we made.” Those comments show an intention and a hoped-for window, not a confirmed production schedule. The later reported abandonment means that 2026 target should not be treated as a release date.

Not from the released film: Noah’s encounter with the G.I. Joe organization remains the ending of Rise of the Beasts. What is uncertain is whether a future Transformers film will continue that thread. The October 2026 report said the next Transformers project’s relationship to the Rise of the Beasts story was unclear, and the available information does not confirm Noah’s return or any replacement crossover plan.

Caple’s April 2026 comments are not necessarily inconsistent with the later report. He said the project was still in development then; the October report described a subsequent change in direction. His statement that he was not part of the next Transformers film also means his update should not be read as confirmation of that film’s cast or story.
