Common Sense Media recommends The Traitors for ages 13+ and lists it as TV-14. The show’s social deception, tense reactions, some strong language and visible alcohol are more relevant for many families than graphic violence, which its review says is not a prominent feature.
What age is The Traitors appropriate for?
Common Sense Media’s guide recommends the U.S. series for ages 13 and up. That is a practical starting point, not a universal developmental threshold: a younger teen who enjoys tense competition may respond differently from one who finds mistrust or conflict upsetting. The guide also lists the series as TV-14. Common Sense Media’s parent guide describes the content behind its recommendation.
What might concern parents?
Deception and conflict
Lying and sneaking are central to the game. Contestants who lose can appear hurt or angry, so the atmosphere includes sustained suspicion and social tension.
Language and rude gestures
Common Sense Media reports some strong language, including an audible insult and a stronger curse that is mouthed or bleeped, along with occasional rude gestures.

Why can the rating differ by version?
Check the label on the exact season or episode you plan to watch rather than assuming one rating applies to every title or listing. Peacock’s page for The Traitors: New Blood displays TV-PG, while its general U.S. The Traitors listing has surfaced as TV-14 and includes some individual episodes labeled TV-MA. These are listing-specific ratings, not interchangeable labels for every version. Peacock’s listing is the place to check its current display.
Ratings are guides, not guarantees that every viewer will find a program suitable. The BBFC explains that age ratings are accompanied by content advice, while the U.S. TV Parental Guidelines use descriptors that can identify violence, sex, adult language or suggestive dialogue. BBFC’s parent guide and the TV Parental Guidelines explanation provide context for how ratings and content descriptors work.
