No. One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 is a documentary about how the final season was made, not a hidden ninth episode or a continuation of the story. It premiered on Netflix on January 12, 2026, according to TV Guide UK.
What One Last Adventure actually is
Directed by Martina Radwan, the film follows the cast, creators, and crew as they made the fifth and final season and said goodbye to the series. Netflix described it as a “sweeping behind-the-scenes chronicle”; that is Netflix’s characterization, quoted by TV Guide UK, rather than an independent review.
The co-creators pitched it to viewers who love Stranger Things and to people curious about how a major Hollywood production comes together, according to the same TV Guide UK report. That means the appeal is production access and creative process—not new fictional events after the finale.
Why fans expected a secret episode
After the finale, a fan theory called “Conformity Gate” argued that details in the ending hinted the story was not over and that a ninth episode might appear. Fans pointed to graduation-scene poses, character styling, and a missing scar, among other perceived inconsistencies. These were fan interpretations, not confirmed clues, as TV Insider reported.

The speculation intensified after Netflix posted “Your Future is on its way. #WhatNext Jan 7, 2026,” according to The Guardian. Fans connected the date to the theory. The Guardian also reported that a screenshot circulating as evidence had been doctored, and that Netflix later posted: “ALL EPISODES OF STRANGER THINGS ARE NOW PLAYING.” A contemporaneous TVSquad report relayed the same message from the official show account.
Radwan, reflecting on the rumor in comments reported by TVSquad, wondered whether it was wishful thinking because viewers wanted more and did not want the show to end. That is the director’s reaction to the speculation, not confirmation of another installment.

What the documentary reveals about making the finale
The behind-the-scenes material does offer context about the difficulty of completing the final episode. GamesRadar quotes Matt and Ross Duffer describing intense pressure around episode eight and the challenge of writing amid competing demands. Matt Duffer says they began production without a finished finale script, calling that prospect scary because they wanted to get the season’s most important script right. These are production remarks from the documentary as reported by GamesRadar; they explain the work behind the ending, not evidence that another episode exists.
GamesRadar also reports that the ending was changed to leave Eleven’s fate more ambiguous. That is a reported account of a creative decision, not an alternate ending or a promise of continuation.
