The project remained in development; it was not a completed show that was later pulled from the service.
What happened to the planned Disney+ series?
TheWrap reported that Disney+ had decided not to proceed with its planned live-action Power Rangers series and that the project would not move beyond development. The report is about a series that stalled before production, not a season that was made and then removed. TheWrap’s August 13, 2026 report is the source for the current status.
Who was attached to the project?
TheWrap reported that Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz were attached as writers and executive producers, with 20th Television as the studio. Those were reported development attachments; they do not mean the series was filmed or received a release date.
Why did Disney+ decide not to proceed?
TheWrap characterized the decision as business-related. Other coverage relaying Deadline’s reporting described economics and budget as factors, but no verified budget figure or official explanation from Disney, Hasbro, or the creative team is established in the cited material. Treat those explanations as reporting, not as a confirmed company statement.

- Authentic: The figure has multiple points of articulation and designed to look just like Billy Cranston from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show
- Morph Power: Press down on the figure's back lever and watch him morph from Billy into the iconic Blue Ranger
- Accessories: The Auto-Morphin Blue Ranger comes with his signature Power Lance, and the Blade Blaster in both Blade and Blaster form
- Classic: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition is a new and improved release of the classic 1993 brand for today's kids
- Collect Them All: Collect all of your favorite Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from Playmates Toys
Does this mean Power Rangers is over?
No. The reported shelving concerns this particular Disney+ live-action project. Hasbro said in 2024 that it retained the franchise’s entertainment rights and would continue to guide its global strategy while working with licensees across categories. That rights arrangement does not establish that another television or film project is currently in production.
Hasbro’s April 22, 2024 announcement described the franchise as having more than 900 episodes aired and 30 continuous years on the air, noting its 1993 launch. Those are historical figures from that 2024 announcement, not a current episode count or a 2026 anniversary tally. Hasbro’s announcement also set out the rights and licensing arrangement.

What is happening with Power Rangers toys?
Toy activity is separate from the Disney+ series. Hasbro licensed Playmates to develop and distribute Power Rangers toys, and Playmates’ 2026 overview described plans for refreshed action figures, collectibles, combinable Zords, and role-play accessories. These products are not evidence of a tie-in to the shelved series, and the cited overview does not establish that each planned item is already on sale.
