Yes. Master Sol dies in the Season 1 finale of The Acolyte. Osha kills him after he confesses that he killed her mother, Mother Aniseya; as he dies, Osha’s anger bleeds the kyber crystal in his lightsaber, turning its blade from blue to red.
How does Sol die?
The finale brings Sol, Osha, and Mae back to Brendok, where Mae wants Sol to confess what happened to their family. When Osha confronts him, Sol admits that he killed Mother Aniseya. He says he acted to protect Osha, but the revelation—and the fact that he hid it from her—does not undo her sense of betrayal.

Osha kills Sol with the Force. The official episode recap connects his confession to her decision, while official production coverage likewise says Sol is ultimately killed by Osha.
Why does Osha turn Sol’s lightsaber red?
As Sol dies, Osha takes his lightsaber and bleeds its kyber crystal, changing the blade from blue to red. The moment marks a transformation in Osha as well as a physical change to the weapon. In an official interview, Amandla Stenberg, who portrays Osha and Mae, discussed the anger behind Osha’s act. Her remarks describe the scene; they are not dialogue from the episode.

What happens after Sol’s death?
Vernestra chooses to protect the Jedi Order from scrutiny by giving the Senate a cover story that blames Sol for the deaths. That account is not proof that Sol committed the other killings: it is the explanation Vernestra presents after the events shown in the finale. The distinction matters because the public story and what viewers see are not the same.
The Stranger wipes Mae’s memory, leaving her without memories of the events and her killing spree, while Osha leaves with him. These developments leave Osha’s future open; the finale establishes Sol’s death, not what Osha will do next.

What the finale establishes about Sol
- Sol dies in Episode 8, “The Acolyte.”
- Osha kills him after learning that he killed Mother Aniseya and concealed the truth.
- His blue lightsaber turns red as Osha bleeds its kyber crystal.
- Vernestra’s account to the Senate is a cover story, not a reversal of what happened on screen.
StarWars.com’s production interview also describes Sol’s death and Osha taking his lightsaber. The series’ moral framing is more complicated than the cover story suggests; creator and showrunner Leslye Headland discussed that perspective in official commentary on the Jedi in the series.
