In January 2026, the former couple gave competing accounts of money connected to their Las Vegas home proceeds and the purchase of Kody and Robyn’s Flagstaff-area home. Kody reportedly said Meri would be paid, but the details had not been negotiated. That is not proof of a settlement, repayment, or court case.
What Meri and Kody said about the money
The dispute discussed on the January 2026 Sister Wives: 1-on-1 special concerns money tied to the sale of the Las Vegas home Meri and Kody shared and a contribution toward the Flagstaff-area home Kody bought with Robyn. The coverage reports differing descriptions of how that money should be understood.

| Question | Meri’s reported account | Kody’s reported account |
|---|---|---|
| What was the contribution? | Meri described money used to purchase Robyn’s Flagstaff home as a loan. (Us Weekly, January 18, 2026) | Kody connected the funds to the division of proceeds from the former couple’s Las Vegas home and said the divorce decree called for a 50/50 split. (E! News, January 19, 2026; Us Weekly, January 18, 2026) |
| Was repayment settled? | The reporting presents Meri as saying money remains owed; it does not establish a court-determined balance. (E! News, January 19, 2026) | E! reported Kody said, “Meri will get paid,” and that the particulars had not yet been negotiated. That statement does not establish that payment occurred or that the parties reached an agreement. (E! News, January 19, 2026) |
| Has a court resolved the issue? | The cited coverage does not confirm a lawsuit or a court ruling on the claimed loan. Neither account is a legal finding. | |
The available reports do not state a verified debt amount or establish that the divorce decree resolves whether the Flagstaff contribution was a loan. It is therefore more accurate to describe this as a publicly reported disagreement than as a proven debt or a decided legal dispute.
Is Meri taking legal action?
The cited reporting does not confirm that Meri filed a lawsuit over the Flagstaff-home contribution, retained a lawyer for that dispute, or reached a repayment settlement. It also does not establish a final decision by Meri to sue. The title’s suggestion that she is considering legal action should not be read as confirmation of a case.

- Factory sealed DVD
There is an earlier, separate lawyer discussion that can cause confusion. In January 2025, coverage of a Sister Wives episode described Janelle discussing a lawyer over the family’s Coyote Pass property. Meri said she also wanted someone pushing her interests after a long period without speaking to Kody about that matter. That discussion concerned Coyote Pass, not the later-reported money for Kody and Robyn’s home. (Yahoo Entertainment, January 24, 2025)
How the two storylines differ
- Flagstaff-home contribution: The January 2026 special and follow-up coverage concern Meri’s description of money as a loan, Kody’s account of the Las Vegas proceeds and divorce decree, and his reported statement that she would be paid. The terms and outcome were not established in those reports.
- Coyote Pass: The January 2025 lawyer discussion concerned the separate property issue. It does not show that Meri filed a case over the Flagstaff contribution.
- Later show coverage: An October 4, 2026 Us Weekly report discussed season 21 context involving Janelle’s objections to Kody’s account of a Coyote Pass sale. It did not confirm legal action by Meri over the claimed loan. (Us Weekly, October 4, 2026)
What is and isn’t established
As of October 8, 2026, the cited coverage supports the existence of a public disagreement and the fact that Kody reportedly said Meri would be paid. It does not establish that a lawsuit was filed, that Meri was repaid, that a settlement was reached, or that a court decided whether the contribution was a loan. Any definitive claim about a filing or payment would require a current official record or a direct, current statement from the parties.
