Bloomberg reported on September 6, 2024, that Selena Gomez had reached billionaire status, estimating her fortune at about $1.3 billion. That was a media estimate—not an audited disclosure of her personal finances—and it should not be read as a verified figure for 2026. The estimate centered on Rare Beauty, alongside reported income and assets from entertainment and other ventures.
What did Bloomberg report about Selena Gomez’s wealth?
Bloomberg added Gomez to its billionaire index in September 2024 with an estimated fortune of about $1.3 billion. TIME’s account of the estimate said roughly 81% was associated with Rare Beauty. These are Bloomberg’s and TIME’s reported estimates, not a public accounting of Gomez’s assets, debts, ownership percentages, or current net worth. Bloomberg’s billionaire index is the source of the status report; TIME’s account explains the estimate’s reported components.

Why was Rare Beauty central to the estimate?
Rare Beauty, the cosmetics company Gomez launched in 2020, was described by TIME as the dominant source of the estimated fortune. TIME reported that the company had $400 million in sales for the 12 months ending May 2024 and was available in 36 countries, according to the company. Those figures describe the period covered by the 2024 profile, not current sales or reach. TIME’s May 2024 profile also reported annual sales growth of 100% from 2021 to 2022 and 200% the following year.
A product example: Soft Pinch Liquid Blush
TIME reported that Rare Beauty’s popular liquid blush generated $70 million in sales in 2023 and cost $23 at the time of the profile. That historical sales figure helps illustrate the brand’s commercial scale; it does not establish the product’s current price or availability. TIME’s profile also discussed the brand’s broader product business.

The brand’s stated mission
TIME reported that Rare Beauty launched alongside the Rare Impact Fund, with a goal of raising $100 million during the brand’s first ten years and a pledge of 1% of product sales to the fund. These are terms and goals reported in 2024; they do not establish how much has since been raised or whether the terms have changed. Gomez told TIME, “I never wanted it to be about making a lot of money and that’s it,” in a discussion of product development and the fund. Read the TIME profile.
What other ventures and income sources were included?
The reported estimate was not presented as the value of Rare Beauty alone. TIME’s summary of Bloomberg’s analysis included acting, streaming deals, brand partnerships, concert tickets, properties, and music-related income. It said music tours accounted for less than 5% of the estimated fortune and album and record sales for less than 2%. Those percentages are components of the 2024 estimate, not figures Gomez disclosed in a personal financial statement. TIME’s account of Bloomberg’s estimate provides that breakdown.

Wondermind
A Bloomberg-syndicated report also listed Gomez’s interest in Wondermind, a mental-health venture co-founded by Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and Daniella Pierson. The report described its mental-health tools, interviews, and newsletter, and noted investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, and Serena Ventures. Its discussion of a 2022 valuation is historical; it should not be mistaken for Wondermind’s current value or treated as a disclosed figure in Gomez’s personal balance sheet. Moneycontrol’s Bloomberg-syndicated report covers the venture.
Does a reported $2 billion valuation mean Gomez was worth $2 billion?
No. A March 2024 Bloomberg report described advisers assessing interest in investing in or acquiring Rare Beauty, with discussion around a possible company valuation. That was a report about private discussions and a contemplated company valuation—not proof that a transaction occurred, not a confirmed sale price, and not Gomez’s personal net worth. A company’s valuation and an owner’s net worth are different measures: the latter also depends on ownership, liabilities, taxes, and other assets. Bloomberg’s March 2024 report described the discussions.
