Yes—eligible Walmart+ trial and paid members can get Paramount+ Essential without a separate Paramount+ charge. However, the current Walmart offer is not necessarily a free Walmart+ trial: Walmart’s public page currently advertises 30 days for $1. The included Paramount+ plan also contains ads, and Paramount+ Premium costs extra.

What “free Paramount+” means with Walmart+
Walmart+ includes a Video Streaming Choice benefit. Eligible members choose either Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium. Only one service can be selected at a time.
So the precise answer is: Paramount+ Essential is included at no additional Paramount+ charge while your Walmart+ eligibility continues. It is not a standalone Paramount+ subscription that remains active independently of Walmart+.

Walmart currently advertises a 30-day Walmart+ promotion for $1, although offers can vary by account, location, eligibility, and campaign timing. After a trial, Walmart+ may automatically renew and charge the payment method on file unless canceled under the applicable terms. Check the offer and renewal details shown in your account before signing up.

If you are a paid Walmart+ member and have enrolled in Paramount+ Essential through Walmart+, Walmart currently lists a Premium upgrade at $5 per month plus tax or $50 per year plus tax. The upgrade is billed through Walmart, is separate from the normal Walmart+ price, and is subject to change. Trial members cannot currently purchase this upgrade according to Walmart’s help information.
This article does not assume specific shows, sports, local CBS availability, downloads, simultaneous streams, or device limits, because those details can vary by plan, location, and Paramount’s current service terms. Paramount—not Walmart—controls the Paramount+ content and streaming service.
How to activate Paramount+ through Walmart+
- Sign in to the Walmart account associated with your Walmart+ membership.
- Open your account page and select Walmart+.
- Open the Benefits Hub or the video streaming benefit.
- Choose Paramount+ Essential, not Peacock Premium.
- Select Get Paramount+ or the equivalent activation button shown in your account.
- Sign in to an existing Paramount+ account or create a new one.
- Complete the linking and registration steps, then select or create your Paramount+ profile.
The exact button names can vary by account and interface version, but activation should begin in the Walmart account’s Walmart+ Benefits Hub. Do not independently start a new subscription at ParamountPlus.com first if you intend to use the Walmart benefit; doing so can create a separate bill.

After successful activation, Paramount+ should recognize access through Walmart+ rather than asking you to start a separately billed subscription.
Already paying Paramount+ directly?
Do not assume that connecting Walmart+ cancels an existing Paramount+ subscription. Walmart’s terms say existing Paramount+ subscribers should:

- Cancel the direct Paramount+ subscription with Paramount.
- Wait until the final paid billing cycle ends.
- Return to the Walmart+ account and open the Benefits Hub.
- Activate Paramount+ through Walmart+.
Until the direct subscription is canceled properly, the two billing relationships may remain separate. If you see a Paramount+ charge after activation, check both your Paramount+ billing page and Walmart billing history. Possible explanations include an uncanceled direct subscription, a Premium upgrade, a renewal that occurred before activation, or use of a different Paramount+ account.

What happens when the Walmart+ trial ends?
If you keep Walmart+ and it converts to an active paid membership, the Paramount+ Essential benefit should continue subject to Walmart’s current terms. Walmart currently lists paid membership pricing in its help content as $12.95 monthly or $98 annually, plus applicable tax, but confirm the price displayed for your account.
If you cancel or allow Walmart+ to expire, the Paramount+ benefit can end because it is tied to active Walmart+ eligibility. Do not assume that canceling a trial preserves Paramount+ access through the full 30 days. Walmart’s terms say it may terminate a trial membership or associated benefits immediately when a customer cancels during the trial. Check the cancellation screen and applicable terms before confirming if continued access matters.

No. The Walmart+ benefit is a choice between Paramount+ Essential and Peacock Premium, not two simultaneous subscriptions. Walmart’s current terms describe switching between them once every 90 days, provided you remain eligible. Check your Walmart+ account for the next available switch date before changing services.

Common problems and fixes
Paramount+ still asks you to subscribe
- Return to Walmart Account → Walmart+ → Benefits Hub.
- Confirm that Paramount+ Essential, rather than Peacock, is selected.
- Repeat the activation process.
- Use the same Paramount+ login that was linked during activation.
- Check that your Walmart+ trial or paid membership is active.
- Confirm that you are not trying to access Premium-only features through Essential.
- Check Paramount+ billing for an existing direct subscription or a different account.
If Walmart shows an active benefit but Paramount+ does not recognize it, contact Walmart or Paramount support.
You canceled Walmart+ but Paramount+ still works
Continued access does not prove that the benefit is permanent. It may persist until the relevant membership term ends, but trial cancellations can also result in immediate loss of benefits. The outcome can depend on whether you canceled during a trial, after renewal, or after purchasing an upgrade.
Is Walmart+ a good way to get Paramount+?
Walmart+ makes the most sense if you already want its delivery, shipping, fuel, or other membership benefits and are happy with Paramount+ Essential and its ads. It is less attractive if Paramount+ is the only benefit you want, if you need Premium immediately during a trial, or if you want a standalone Paramount+ account unaffected by Walmart+ cancellation.
A direct Paramount+ subscription gives you independent billing and direct plan selection. Walmart+ can be the better bundle when its other benefits justify the membership cost, but do not count the included Essential plan as a permanent free subscription.

Availability and price qualifications
This answer primarily applies to the United States. Walmart+ requires a U.S. billing address, and Walmart says benefits are limited in Alaska and Hawaii. Streaming availability in Puerto Rico may depend on provider requirements. Prices, promotional offers, plan availability, eligibility, and upgrade terms can change, so verify the final details in your Walmart account before enrolling or upgrading.
