No Good Deed is a strong pick for Linda Cardellini fans who enjoy dark comedy, secrets and an ensemble mystery—but it is not a Cardellini-led vehicle in the same way Dead to Me centers its best-known characters. She plays Margo, a sharp-edged prospective buyer caught up in a story about a house sale and the secrets surrounding it. Netflix lists the series as eight episodes and TV-MA; check the local Netflix listing for availability.
What is No Good Deed about?
Three families compete to buy a Los Angeles home they each think will solve their problems. The owners, Lydia and Paul, are trying to sell their 1920s Spanish-style villa while keeping painful family secrets hidden. As the sale draws the buyers together, the story adds family conflict, rivalry, blackmail threats and revelations.

Netflix describes the series as a comedy, while its Tudum coverage calls it a dark comedy spanning eight half-hour episodes. The house is more than a backdrop: the sale gives the characters a shared goal, and the secrets tied to the property supply the mystery. Liz Feldman has said that while searching for a home herself, she saw more than 50 houses and realized how many secrets can surround buying and selling one. That is Feldman’s personal anecdote, not a statistic about real estate.

Margo is a change of pace from Judy
Cardellini plays Margo, a Los Angeleno and prospective buyer. Netflix Tudum reports that Feldman first imagined Margo and the show’s mysterious world while working on the final season of Dead to Me. Feldman envisioned a “badass bitch,” and Cardellini said she wanted to play “the complete opposite” of Judy, her sweet character in that earlier series.
That connection makes No Good Deed especially appealing if you liked the Cardellini–Feldman collaboration, but Margo is a new character, not a continuation of Judy. The show also has a broad ensemble, so viewers should expect Cardellini to be one part of the larger story rather than its sole focus.
Is it worth watching for Cardellini fans?
It is a good match if you want to see Cardellini take on a more secretive, sharper character in a darkly comic story driven by clashing families and twists. Feldman’s involvement offers a meaningful point of connection to Dead to Me, while the home-sale mystery gives this series its own setting and cast of conflicts.
The main caveat is the crowded ensemble. In a review published December 12, 2024, TIME critic Judy Berman praised the comparison with Feldman’s earlier work but argued that the many storylines and tonal turns can overwhelm the show, writing that “the list of dramatis personae is simply too long.” That is one critic’s assessment, not a consensus verdict. If you prefer a tightly focused story or want Cardellini at the center of nearly every scene, the number of characters may frustrate you; if you enjoy intersecting secrets and a busy ensemble, that density may be part of the appeal.
