No current return has been confirmed. McDonald’s Canada’s August 18, 2026 World Menu Heist announcement names Truffle Flavoured Mayo-Style Sauce and Black Garlic Sauce, but not Szechuan Sauce. The latest Canadian Szechuan offer found was a limited-time promotion in June 2024.
Is Szechuan Sauce on McDonald’s Canada’s menu now?
It is not listed in McDonald’s Canada’s published World Menu Heist lineup for 2026. The promotion began August 18 for a limited time at participating restaurants and names two sauces: Truffle Flavoured Mayo-Style Sauce and Black Garlic Sauce. The announcement does not say Szechuan Sauce is returning. McDonald’s Canada’s announcement also notes that Canadian menu items may differ from those in their countries of origin.
That is not a guarantee about every restaurant’s local stock: the official Canadian sources reviewed do not provide restaurant-level availability information or a current Szechuan offer. Check McDonald’s Canada’s app or contact a participating restaurant for its current menu; neither should be treated as confirmation of a broader return.
When was Szechuan Sauce last announced in Canada?
On June 24, 2024, McDonald’s Canada announced its “1990s Szechuan Sauce” as one of three Throwback Sauces available for a limited time, while supplies lasted, at participating restaurants. The announcement described it as “a zesty and spicy sauce” and said customers could order through the app, at the drive-thru, or through McDelivery. Those terms applied to that 2024 promotion; they do not establish availability in 2026. Read the Canadian 2024 announcement.

Why do people expect it to return?
The sauce has had multiple promotional moments, but the well-known 2017 episode was in the United States, not a Canadian menu announcement. On October 7, 2017, McDonald’s corporate announced a one-day, limited-supply release at select US restaurants. The next day, after demand exceeded supply, it promised another return that winter. The October 8 follow-up and the October 5 announcement document that US promotion. Neither confirms a current Canadian offer.

McDonald’s Canada’s 2024 description calls it zesty and spicy. A separate 2017 US corporate description calls it savory and slightly sweet, with hints of soy, ginger, garlic, and slight vinegar notes. These are descriptions from different promotions, not proof that the recipes were identical. Neither announcement provides a complete recipe or ingredient list.

What to watch for if it returns
- Look for a dated announcement from McDonald’s Canada rather than relying on a US promotion or a past Canadian offer.
- Check the stated dates, participating-restaurant terms, ordering channels, and “while supplies last” conditions in that announcement.
- Use the Canadian app or restaurant information for local availability once a Canadian promotion is actually announced.
