Yes. Jon Stewart is staying on The Daily Show through December 2026 as its Monday host and an executive producer. That is the confirmed term—not an announcement that he will continue beyond 2026. As of TheWrap’s August 17, 2026 report, Paramount wanted him back, but no extension beyond that date had been reached.
What Jon Stewart’s extension confirms
Paramount announced on November 3, 2025, that Stewart would remain with The Daily Show through December 2026. The extension covers his role as Monday host and executive producer. The financial and other contract terms were not disclosed, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The announcement extends a return that began in February 2024. Paramount had initially said Stewart would host Mondays through the 2024 election cycle, with the show’s News Team hosting the rest of the week. The new agreement carried his role through the end of 2026.
Is Jon Stewart leaving The Daily Show in 2026?
His announced term ends in December 2026, but that does not establish that he will leave then. In an August 17, 2026 report, TheWrap said Paramount wanted Stewart to return, while the parties had not yet reached an extension beyond 2026. Any continuation after December therefore remained unsettled as of that report.

Who hosts The Daily Show during the rest of the week?
Stewart hosts on Mondays. The show’s News Team shares hosting duties Tuesday through Thursday, as described in the extension coverage and a July 2025 Paramount release. That release named Josh Johnson, Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic in the hosting rotation, and also named Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt. It is a dated roster, not a guarantee of the current lineup.
