Usually, if you already pay for JioFiber and own the spare PC, playing YouTube on that PC is cheaper on an incremental-cost basis—provided the electricity it uses costs less than the cloud service you would otherwise pay for. There is no universal rupee answer: the result depends on measured PC power, viewing hours, your electricity tariff, and which cloud service you mean.
Here, “cloud streaming” needs separating into two different possibilities: watching YouTube through a cloud-hosted computer such as JioPC, or using a cloud gaming service such as JioGames Cloud. Neither is the same thing as ordinary YouTube playback on a working local PC. Jio does not state a current JioPC price in the cited release, so a numerical comparison with that service is not possible from the published figures available here.
Compare the cost this choice actually adds
If JioFiber is already in the household budget and would remain there regardless, do not count its entire bill as a YouTube cost. Likewise, an already-owned PC is a sunk purchase for this comparison. The local PC’s main ongoing cost is the electricity it adds while playing video; maintenance or upgrades could matter if this use causes them, but there is no basis here to assign them a value.
Use this formula for the local-PC option:
Incremental monthly cost = (average PC watts Ă· 1,000) Ă— viewing hours per month Ă— electricity price per kWh + incremental broadband cost.

Include the display’s power draw only if it is on for this activity. Set incremental broadband cost to zero when you already pay for the connection and this viewing does not cause you to buy or upgrade it. Compare that result with the current monthly charge for the specific cloud service. Add any cloud-side network or device costs only if you actually incur them.
Measure rather than guess
Measure the computer’s average wall power while it is playing YouTube, under the conditions you expect to use. A generic “office PC” or “gaming PC” wattage can produce a misleading estimate. Then use your actual monthly viewing hours and the marginal electricity rate on your bill. This method does not assume a national PC-power average or a household tariff.

What JioFiber plan prices do—and do not—tell you
Jio’s official comparison pages display these examples; they are plan-specific, GST is additional where stated, and they are not universal tariffs for every Indian address. Check current availability, terms, and plan details for your location.

The same comparison results also show plans advertised at up to 150 Mbps for ₹999 + GST per month. Jio’s locality page for Sunderbani lists other speeds and rates, illustrating why an example should not be treated as a national price. If YouTube viewing is the only reason you would subscribe or upgrade, count that new broadband expense in the comparison; if the connection already serves the household, count only any added cost caused by this choice.

Jio presents JioFiber as home broadband for uses including YouTube and OTT applications, but provider descriptions do not establish availability or actual performance at a particular address. The plan’s speed label alone does not settle which option is cheaper or how playback will perform in your home. See JioFiber’s service information.
“Cloud streaming” could mean a cloud PC or cloud gaming
JioPC is a cloud computer, not a required YouTube subscription
Reliance describes JioPC as a cloud computer that can turn a screen into a personal computer, with a pay-as-you-go model and monthly subscription. The cited release does not state a current price or detailed usage limits, so do not assume a price or claim a break-even point against local playback. For a working local PC, JioPC is not necessary just to watch ordinary YouTube video. These are the company’s service descriptions, not a household-specific cost or performance comparison. JioGames Cloud is for games
JioGames Cloud is a cloud gaming platform, not a substitute cost for watching YouTube. Reliance’s July 2025 release described access to 500+ game titles at that time; that figure concerns the gaming service, not YouTube content, and is not a guarantee of the current catalogue. The release also describes a separate subscription for users without Jio connectivity. Do not compare that gaming offer with local YouTube playback as if they met the same need. Reliance’s release.

Jio’s OTT-app information lists YouTube Premium for selected plans, not as a universal benefit. It says activation is through MyJio, use on other devices allows two concurrent screens, and the offer is a one-time two-year subscription. Confirm the current offer terms and eligibility on the account before assigning it a value; do not assume it reduces the cost of every JioFiber plan or recurs every two years. Work out your household’s break-even point
- Define the alternatives. Decide whether you mean local YouTube playback on the spare PC or a specific cloud computer. Do not use a cloud gaming subscription as the cloud-video price.
- Measure the local setup. Record average wall power in watts while playing YouTube. Include a monitor only if it is used for this activity.
- Estimate monthly energy. Divide watts by 1,000 and multiply by the hours you expect to watch in a month to get kWh.
- Apply your tariff. Multiply those kWh by the marginal per-unit electricity rate that applies to your household.
- Add only new broadband cost. Count a JioFiber bill or upgrade only when this viewing choice causes it. Otherwise, the existing bill is not an incremental YouTube expense.
- Compare with the actual cloud charge. Use the current price and terms for the named cloud service. A JioPC price is not stated in the cited official release, so its cost cannot be filled into this calculation from that source.
The local option is cheaper when its calculated incremental monthly cost is lower than the cloud option’s actual incremental charge. Without your PC reading, hours, tariff, and the cloud service’s current price, a numeric break-even claim would be guesswork.
Choose based on more than the monthly bill
Cost is only one part of the decision. Compare whether the device and broadband are already available, whether playback quality and reliability meet your needs at your address, and whether the cloud service provides a full desktop or something else you actually want. The cited provider descriptions do not establish how either option will perform in an individual home.
If JioFiber is not yet installed, check the plan and address-specific availability before treating a displayed plan example as your likely cost. If you mainly want YouTube playback and already have a working PC and connection, first calculate the added electricity cost; a cloud computer brings value only if its broader function or other terms justify its own charge.
