If you like food shows built around a team rather than a contest, Jinny’s Kitchen is worth a look. The Korean reality-variety series follows a celebrity crew running a Korean street-food restaurant, first in Bacalar, Mexico, and then in Iceland. Its appeal is the restaurant routine—cooking, serving, and working together—rather than a scripted plot or high-stakes competition.
What is Jinny’s Kitchen about?
The series turns a pop-up restaurant into its central setting. Viewers follow the crew as they prepare Korean food, serve customers, and share the work of keeping the restaurant running. tvN’s official introduction describes the first season in Bacalar, Mexico, with gimbap, tteokbokki, and hot dogs among the menu items.
The setup makes the show a mix of food-centered unscripted television, workplace dynamics, and travel scenery. It is not presented as a fictional story or a cooking competition.
Who is in the restaurant team?
tvN describes Lee Seo-jin as the owner, Jung Yu-mi as a director, Park Seo-joon as a kitchen lead, Choi Woo-shik as an intern, and Kim Tae-hyung as a new intern in the original team. The roles help give the restaurant a working-crew structure, rather than presenting the cast simply as guests.

How do the two seasons differ?
The most immediately visible change is the setting: the first-season restaurant is in Bacalar, Mexico, while Season 2 moves to Iceland. The lineup also changes, with Go Min-si joining as the new intern in the second season. Season 2’s Prime Video listing highlights gomtang and Korean dishes; it does not establish a complete menu for the season.
| Season | Setting | Team detail | Food details highlighted by the official descriptions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | Bacalar, Mexico | tvN’s original-team description names Kim Tae-hyung as a new intern. | Gimbap, tteokbokki, and hot dogs. |
| Season 2 | Iceland | Prime Video’s listing adds Go Min-si as a new intern. | Gomtang and Korean dishes; the listing does not give an exhaustive menu. |
Is it a relaxing, feel-good watch?
That depends on what you want from a show, but Jinny’s Kitchen is a natural fit if you enjoy watching a group coordinate around a shared task and want food and scenery alongside the cast. BGR’s April 2024 review characterized it as calm and feel-good; that is a reviewer’s impression, not a guarantee that every viewer will find it relaxing.

If you want a tightly plotted documentary, a fictional narrative, or competition stakes, the restaurant-centered format may not be what you’re looking for. The premise is the everyday work of operating the restaurant.
