The sources reviewed do not show Jaden Smith publicly identifying as gay. The question most often traces back to a November 2018 Camp Flog Gnaw appearance, when Smith called Tyler, the Creator his boyfriend. The exchange was treated as a joke or left unresolved in contemporaneous coverage; it does not establish Smith’s sexual orientation or confirm that the two were dating.
What did Jaden Smith say about Tyler, the Creator?
At Camp Flog Gnaw in Los Angeles in November 2018, Smith told the crowd: “I wanna tell you, Tyler doesn’t want to say, but Tyler’s my motherfucking boyfriend and he’s been my motherfucking boyfriend my whole fucking life,” as Out reported.

That is what Smith said onstage. The meaning of the line is less certain: contemporaneous accounts described Tyler laughing or shaking his head, and coverage did not establish that the statement was a literal announcement of a relationship.
Why did the moment leave fans unsure?
Smith followed the stage exchange with a tweet addressed to Tyler. iHeartRadio reported that the tweet was later deleted and that Tyler replied, “hahaha you a crazy n***a man.” Headlines framed the moment as a possible coming-out announcement, while other contemporary coverage described it as a joke or left its sincerity open. The conflicting signals explain the debate over that episode, not Smith’s identity.

A Washington Blade report published November 13, 2018 said neither Smith nor Tyler had publicly announced their sexuality at that time. That is a statement about the public record as of that date, not an exhaustive account of anything Smith may have said later.

No. In a comment from 2016 quoted by iHeartRadio in its 2018 coverage, Smith said, “I don’t see man clothes and woman clothes.” Clothing choices and gender expression do not establish a person’s sexual orientation, and should not be used to assign one.
