It is the fictional K-pop trio in Netflix’s animated musical fantasy film KPop Demon Hunters. The characters are made up, but real singers recorded their songs and performers connected with the project have appeared in public.
No—HUNTR/X is not a conventional real-world band. HUNTR/X is the fictional K-pop trio at the center of Netflix’s animated musical fantasy film KPop Demon Hunters. In the story, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey are chart-topping idols who secretly protect the world from demons.
What makes the answer less simple is that HUNTR/X’s music is real. Named human singers recorded the songs, official videos and soundtrack releases exist, and performers connected with the project have appeared together in real-world promotional and awards settings. The most accurate description is therefore a fictional or virtual K-pop act performed by real artists—not an independently formed band whose animated members are real people.
Who are HUNTR/X?
HUNTR/X—sometimes written “Huntrix” or “HUNTRIX” in informal coverage—is the fictional girl group created for KPop Demon Hunters. The stylized official name is HUNTR/X; “Huntrix” is generally a pronunciation-friendly variant, not a separate group.

Inside the film’s world, the trio combines pop stardom with demon hunting:
- Rumi is the group’s charismatic leader and lead vocalist. She is confident, ambitious, and hardworking, but carries a personal secret closely tied to the film’s supernatural conflict.
- Mira is the rebellious and spirited member. She is perceptive about her friends’ emotions and fights demons alongside Rumi and Zoey.
- Zoey is the youngest member, rapper, and lyricist. Her story explores belonging, self-doubt, Korean American identity, and loyalty to her bandmates.
These are characters, not biographies of three real musicians. Their personalities, relationships, backstories, animated performances, and demon-hunting adventures belong to the film’s fictional narrative.
Who provides HUNTR/X’s voices?
The English-language production separates spoken acting from singing. That division is common in heavily musical animated films, but it can make HUNTR/X look like a real band because several recognizable artists are attached to the group’s music.
| Fictional member | English speaking voice | Singing voice | Role in HUNTR/X |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rumi | Arden Cho | EJAE, also known as Kim Eun-jae | Leader and lead vocalist |
| Mira | May Hong | Audrey Nuna | Rebellious performer and demon hunter |
| Zoey | Ji-young Yoo | Rei Ami | Youngest member, rapper, and lyricist |
Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo act the characters’ English dialogue. EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami provide the principal singing performances associated with Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. EJAE is also a singer-songwriter who contributed to the creative development of music connected with Rumi.

Is HUNTR/X an AI band?
No. The available production information attributes HUNTR/X’s performances to named human actors and singers. The group is animated and fictional, but that is different from being an AI-generated music act.
It is also more precise to avoid calling HUNTR/X simply “fake.” The characters are fictional, yet the vocal recordings, songwriting and production work, soundtrack, animated music videos, streaming releases, and promotional appearances are real creative and commercial products.
What songs does HUNTR/X perform?
HUNTR/X is associated with songs from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, including:

- “Golden”
- “How It’s Done”
- “What It Sounds Like”
“Golden” is the trio’s central musical and emotional number in the film. The recording is performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the singing voices associated with Rumi, Mira, and Zoey.
Netflix’s February 18, 2026 oral history reported that, since the soundtrack’s June 2025 release, “Golden” became the most-streamed global release of 2025, spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and set a record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. Those are historical achievements reported in 2026; they should not be mistaken for a statement about the song’s chart position at any later date.
HUNTR/X also has an official Spotify artist page describing it as the girl group from the movie. That page confirms an official platform identity and catalog for the project. It does not mean that the animated characters are real people or that the group existed independently before KPop Demon Hunters.
Does HUNTR/X perform in real life?
People behind HUNTR/X have performed the songs in real life, but the animated characters are not touring musicians.

The real singers associated with HUNTR/X have appeared together in promotional and awards contexts. Reporting by the Associated Press described the singing trio behind the fictional group and covered a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Netflix also documented HUNTR/X-related awards-season appearances, including a performance of “Golden” at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards.
Those events promote a film and its music property. They do not turn Rumi, Mira, and Zoey into real people. The distinction is similar to actors and recording artists presenting a fictional entertainment franchise outside the story: the performance is real, while the characters and their world remain invented.
Why does HUNTR/X feel like a real K-pop group?
KPop Demon Hunters gives HUNTR/X many of the features associated with a contemporary idol group:
- a defined group name and visual identity;
- individual members with distinct roles and personalities;
- original songs and music videos;
- an official streaming-artist page;
- fan-oriented merchandise, including light sticks;
- real singers and public performances; and
- storylines built around fame, loyalty, identity, and public image.
That combination makes HUNTR/X closer to a virtual pop property than to a fictional band that exists only as a passing joke in a film. It has a real audience, real recordings, and real products. The crucial boundary is that the group’s members are animated characters rather than human performers who formed a band in the real world.

Can fans buy HUNTR/X merchandise?
Yes. Netflix has documented an official merchandise ecosystem for HUNTR/X and KPop Demon Hunters, including light sticks, figures, toys, games, books, coloring products, clothing, bags, costumes, and accessories. Netflix has also featured HUNTR/X apparel through the Netflix Shop, while Hasbro has identified licensed products such as NERF Zoey’s Spirit Blades.
A HUNTR/X light stick is the most obvious item for fans who want the concert-style experience associated with the fictional group. However, availability, price, retailer, shipping region, and authenticity can change. Netflix previously identified Withmuu and hello82 for light-stick presales and reported a planned late-2025 release schedule; that does not establish current stock in every country in 2026.
Collectors can also look for KPop Demon Hunters Funko figures and character products featuring members of HUNTR/X. Before buying through a marketplace, check the manufacturer, licensing information, seller, packaging, and return policy rather than assuming that every listing is official.
For children and families, KPop Demon Hunters toys and products such as Zoey’s Spirit Blades may offer a role-play angle. Check the actual product listing for the recommended age, warnings, included parts, and whether a toy is intended for play or display.
Fans who prefer screen-free activities can look for a KPop Demon Hunters coloring book, art book, or other licensed fan publication. Official product categories have included books and coloring products, but titles and inventory vary by market.
For clothing, search for an official HUNTR/X hoodie or other licensed apparel through an identifiable official or authorized retailer. Marketplace fan designs are not automatically the same as studio-approved merchandise.
So, what is the shortest accurate answer?
HUNTR/X is not a real band in the conventional sense. It is the fictional K-pop trio from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, made up of the animated characters Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. Real performers—including EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami as the principal singing voices—recorded the music, and people associated with the project have performed it publicly. That is why HUNTR/X can function like a real virtual pop act while still being a fictional group.
