What does “complete” mean for History of the Eagles?
For the official DVD and Blu-ray editions identified by the record labels, the complete documentary is the two-part feature: Part One and Part Two. Universal Music Canada describes two-disc DVD and Blu-ray releases containing both parts, and Universal Music Japan lists the two feature films on the first two discs of its deluxe edition. “Complete” here refers to the two documentary parts described in those release listings. The available official descriptions do not establish that every edition in every country has identical packaging, nor do they prove that an alternate edit has never existed. They do not identify a separate, longer documentary cut.
What do the two parts cover?
Part One: formation through breakup
Universal Music Japan describes Part One as following the band from its formation in 1971 through its breakup in 1980. The product description presents the film as a documentary featuring interviews with former members and associates. The Japanese deluxe-edition page and the separate Japanese listing provide the release descriptions.

Part Two: reunion and later history
Part Two begins with the 1994 reunion and continues through the Hell Freezes Over period to the present as described at the time of release. These are the two sections that official listings call the documentary; the sources do not describe the concert bonus as a third documentary part.
Does the deluxe edition contain a different cut?
No different documentary cut is identified in the official descriptions reviewed. The deluxe DVD’s third disc contains Eagles Live at the Capital Centre – March 1977, a concert bonus, while the first two discs contain the documentary films. Universal Music Canada likewise distinguishes the deluxe three-disc DVD by its additional live-concert disc. The added disc changes what the package contains, not what the release information says about the documentary itself.

Universal Music Germany also describes a two-part documentary available on DVD and Blu-ray, corroborating that two-part structure in another market. Its release page does not identify a separate extended or alternate edit.
How long is the documentary?
Universal Music Japan’s 2013 listing gives Part One as approximately 120 minutes and Part Two as approximately 68 minutes. It states a total feature runtime of 3 hours 7 minutes. Because the two part durations are approximate, their sum of about 188 minutes need not match the stated 187-minute total exactly; that small discrepancy is not evidence of a different cut. The deluxe listing gives the total, while the separate release listing provides the part durations.

In practical terms, allow about three hours for the documentary. The same Japanese listings describe the bonus 1977 concert as approximately 45–46 minutes, depending on the listing; that concert runtime is additional to the documentary feature.
Which edition should you choose?
The official listings show DVD and Blu-ray editions with both documentary parts, plus a deluxe DVD configuration with the concert bonus. The Japanese deluxe listing also mentions a hard-cover photo book. Packaging and contents can differ by market, so use the specific product listing for the edition you are considering rather than assuming every release includes the same extras.
