No new standalone HBO Max price increase is confirmed in the available reporting. The latest verified U.S. increase took effect in October 2025 for new subscribers, with existing subscribers moving to the higher rates on or after November 20, 2025. HBO Max’s official U.S. page currently lists Basic with Ads at $10.99 a month, Standard at $18.49, and Premium at $22.99. A planned combination with Paramount+ has raised questions about future pricing, but no new price or final bundle structure has been announced.

When did the latest price increase take effect?
Warner Bros. Discovery announced the latest verified U.S. standalone increase on October 21, 2025, according to TechCrunch’s report. New subscribers received the new rates immediately; existing subscribers were scheduled to move to them on their first billing cycle on or after November 20, 2025.

These are the historical transition amounts reported in October 2025, not a separate current price list. TechCrunch reported that the preceding increase had been in June 2024.
What might the Paramount+ combination mean for prices?
The name Max is now styled HBO Max on the service’s official U.S. help page. Separately, the Associated Press reported that Paramount’s $81 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery closed in October 2026. The combined company plans to unify HBO Max and Paramount+ over time, but AP said the future service’s name, consumer costs, and available choices were unknown when it reported the deal. That plan does not confirm another standalone price increase or a particular bundle price.

AP also reported that David Ellison had suggested HBO could retain some independence, saying, “Our viewpoint is, HBO should stay HBO.” That is a reported view, not a final announcement about the service’s operating structure. Why did Warner Bros. Discovery raise prices?
In its February 26, 2026 shareholder letter, Warner Bros. Discovery said subscriber-related revenue growth in 2026 would benefit from the full-year effect of price increases, particularly U.S. changes that took effect in the fourth quarter of 2025. That is management’s financial explanation; it does not establish whether a subscriber considers the service worth the higher cost. The letter is available through the SEC filing.

TechCrunch also reported that then-CEO David Zaslav said at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference the prior month, “We think we’re way underpriced.” The report quoted him adding, “The fact that this is quality — and that’s true across our company, motion picture, TV production, and streaming quality — we all think that gives us a chance to raise prices.” These are Zaslav’s statements as quoted by TechCrunch, not a confirmed announcement of another increase.

What to check if your renewal charge changed
- Open your HBO Max account’s subscription or billing details and check the plan, renewal date, and amount listed.
- Identify who bills you. HBO Max notes that subscriptions can be billed by the service or by another provider, and billing options can vary.
- Manage the subscription through the provider shown in your account. If the charge does not match the listed plan or you do not recognize the billing provider, contact that provider for an explanation before changing or cancelling the subscription.
HBO Max also lists a discounted Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle. Check the official plans page for its current price, eligibility, and billing conditions before comparing it with separate subscriptions.
