The official character profiles emphasize his role as Crusch’s knight and a prominent healer, as well as his feminine clothing and mannerisms, but the profile wording does not explicitly label his gender. Those details answer the question of how the sources describe him; they do not, by themselves, establish a definitive statement about gender identity.
Is Felix Argyle a boy or a girl?
The most direct evidence in the available material is a passage from Re:Zero EX that describes Felix as a male knight and says he styled himself as Ferris. The passage is surfaced in a PDF hosted by a third-party archive, rather than on an official publisher site, so it is best cited as wording from the novel excerpt, with that hosting caveat. Read the surfaced Re:Zero EX excerpt.
The official profiles offer relevant context but do not make the same explicit statement in the retrieved text. The official anime character page highlights Ferris’s frilled clothing, cat ears, mannerisms, and connection to Crusch. Those presentation details should not be treated as a substitute for a direct gender label.
What do the official character profiles say?
The anime profile
The anime character page presents Ferris through his appearance and mannerisms, alongside his relationship with Crusch. It does not explicitly label gender in the profile wording considered here. Feminine-coded clothing or behavior describes gender expression; it does not alone settle gender identity.

The novel profile
The official novel character profile identifies Ferris as Crusch’s knight and one of the royal capital’s leading users of healing magic. It says he is strongly loyal to Crusch, whom he has known for a long time, and that he teases his somewhat naive master by teaching her falsehoods. This establishes his position and personality, not a standalone identity label.
Who is Ferris beyond the gender question?
Ferris’s healer role is central to how the character is described. In an official author Q&A, Tappei Nagatsuki says Ferris is popular with citizens because he is expected to make house calls in the capital and nearby nobles’ residences, and to hurry to epidemic scenes with a group resembling doctors. The Q&A also refers to Felix Argyle in a discussion of character names. It adds context about Ferris’s public role, but does not provide a gender-specific declaration.

- Official profile wording: The anime and novel profiles describe Ferris’s presentation, role, and relationships; the retrieved wording does not explicitly label gender.
- Novel passage: The surfaced Re:Zero EX excerpt calls Felix a male knight. Its text is useful evidence, though the copy is hosted by a third party.
- Gender expression: Clothing, mannerisms, and visual design describe presentation. They do not, on their own, prove an identity claim.
- Reader interpretation: Interpretations may differ, but they should be identified as interpretations rather than attributed to an official profile or author statement without explicit support.
No gender-specific direct statement from Nagatsuki appears in the official Q&A cited here. The clearest answer should therefore distinguish the novel excerpt’s wording from what the official profiles do—and do not—say.
