The apparent-death scene readers remember belongs to the earlier Boruto: Naruto Next Generations storyline. The ongoing sequel, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, continues to feature him; its latest chapter listed by the official English platforms as of October 8, 2026, is Chapter 37, released September 17, 2026.
Why readers ask whether Boruto died
The question comes from a dramatic confrontation with Kawaki in the late chapters of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Boruto appears to die, but the story does not leave that apparent death as his final fate: Momoshiki intervenes, and Boruto survives. The official VIZ chapter catalogue lists Chapters 66 and 67 in sequence, where readers can follow the relevant part of the story: VIZ’s Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter listing.

What the current manga confirms
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the ongoing sequel, and Boruto remains an active character in it. VIZ’s official series page lists Chapter 37, dated September 17, 2026, and describes Boruto as “back stronger than ever”: VIZ’s Boruto: Two Blue Vortex listing. Shueisha’s MANGA Plus page also lists Chapter 37, “Trust,” on that date and describes a story in which Boruto is hunted by his village after everyone’s memories are altered: MANGA Plus: Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Did Kawaki kill Boruto?
Kawaki’s confrontation with Boruto is the source of the apparent-death moment, but Boruto’s survival and continued role in the sequel answer the question: he did not remain dead. For the exact sequence, read the chapters themselves rather than relying on a summary; VIZ’s catalogue lists the relevant Chapters 66–67 in the earlier series.
