Bluey has not been officially declared over, but a fourth TV season has not been confirmed in the official announcements covered here. Creator Joe Brumm says he is taking a break from the series and that The Sign could be his TV finale if he cannot work out how to make more seasons himself. He also says his letter is not an announcement that the show is ending. A feature film is scheduled for 2027, but a film is not a season-four renewal.
What did Joe Brumm say after “The Sign”?
In a letter on the official Bluey website, creator Joe Brumm described a conditional possibility, not a cancellation. He wrote: “In the event I can’t wrap my head around doing more seasons myself, The Sign will mark my TV finale for Bluey and I wrote it as such.” Read Brumm’s letter.

He immediately clarified: “To be clear, this is not an announcement about the end of the show, but it is an acknowledgment that my focus will be on the film.” Brumm says he is taking a break from his involvement in the TV series. He has also said a potential fourth season did not feel like one he could make as good as the last, and that he finds it difficult at present to write authentically in the world of four-to-six-year-olds.
The distinction matters: Brumm is talking about his own role and what he might be able to create, not announcing that the series has been cancelled or that nobody else could continue it.

What Bluey projects are confirmed?
| Format | What is announced | What it means for season 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Feature film | Disney, BBC Studios and Ludo Studio announced a feature-length film. Joe Brumm is writing and directing; it is a Ludo Studio production in collaboration with BBC Studios. The announced cinema date is August 6, 2027. Disney says it plans a worldwide theatrical release followed by Disney+ streaming, with an Australian ABC iview and ABC Kids release after theatrical release. Disney’s film announcement. | A confirmed film, not a TV-season order. The date is the announced schedule and could change. |
| Stage-show recording | Disney+ announced that the televised version of Bluey’s Big Play – The Stage Show would premiere on Disney+ on March 16, 2026. Disney+ announcement. | Stage-show content, not a new season. |
| Minisodes | The same March 2026 announcement said ten previously released Bluey Minisodes would be available on Disney+ from May 20, 2026. Disney+ announcement. | Short-form material, not a fourth season. The Disney+ announcement does not establish availability in every territory. |
Has season 4 been announced?
The official announcements cited here do not establish a season-four order, premiere date, episode count or named successor to Brumm as the TV series’ lead creative. That is different from proof that another season will never be made: the absence of a renewal announcement in these sources cannot settle the show’s entire future.
Audience popularity is not confirmation either. Disney reported, citing Nielsen Media Research, more than 50.5 billion U.S. streaming minutes for Bluey from January 1 through November 24, 2024. Disney+ Press later reported 45.2 billion U.S. streaming minutes for 2025, measured from December 30, 2024 through December 28, 2025. These company-reported figures cover different periods; neither says whether a new season has been commissioned.

So, is Bluey over?
“Bluey is over” goes further than Brumm’s statement, which explicitly says it is not an announcement that the show is ending. But “season 4 is guaranteed” is also unsupported: there is no season-four confirmation in the official announcements cited here. The precise answer is that the series’ future beyond The Sign is not settled by those announcements, while a feature film and other formats of Bluey content have been announced.
